    Bioactive bearded dragon enclosure!!!!

Humid hides for beardies aren't unprecedented. https://www.beardeddragon.org/threads/shedding.249639/#post-1892544 You can find many more discussions in their archives, or post a question about humid hides there. Beardies do not shed like chameleons—it can take weeks in some cases, and even go...

Mistking V4 or Upgrade to V5

TMK, the biggest difference is in the timer. I sprung for v5, and now we have a 2nd v5 for a different reptile. Timer has been through several power outages (all less than 24 hrs.) and never lost settings. No problems with bulkheads—we use rectangular reservoirs. Reservoir filter works...

    Size of rack for 24x24x48

Gotta be a wire rack? All of our enclosures are sitting on standard folding tables. The smallest are 24 x 28. Come to think of it, what about 24" deep wire closet racks/shelving? Or, if you're familiar with the wire shelves sold at big-box stores, they make a 24" x 24" version...

    New Feeder "Cup"

Finally, something good to come out of this lousy pandemic!.... I'm sorry I don't remember who came up with this idea, but thank you again! I've been thinking about it ever since I saw it mentioned. I've tried several iterations—couldn't find the right vessel until now. This is a recycled...

You're not wrong. https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/eating-shed.180452/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/eating-shed.145106/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/chameleon-eating-dead-skin-while-shedding.148951/ There may be more; these came from the first page (of 4) of an...

Sometimes mine gets caught in the plant canopy.

    Do burns/bruises heal over time?

Please read what I actually said instead of mischaracterizing. I never said falling was a normal thing for all chameleons. I said: Is Chameleon Breeder Podcast respectable and reputable enough? One instance not included in many/most/any(?) discussions that I've seen is chameleons falling...

    Bioactive bearded dragon enclosure!!!!

That may be too shallow. Recommendations on the beardie forum range from 7"-12". I thought from previous discussion that the top of the lay bin substrate would be at the same level as the shelf (which looks to be around 6-7 inches). AmandaS, how deep is Opal's? Anyone else with a female? I...

When the tegu is gunning for you

Did you look under the potty pads? 🤨 Actually, it kinda reminds me of my beardie before & after he's strewn his salad around his enclosure... :cautious:

Raising a Panther compared to Veiled?

That's pretty young. Most good breeders won't release them until 3 months. Did you get him from a breeder? Veileds & Panthers are pretty close, but you can compare via their respective care sheets. https://chameleonacademy.com/veiled-chameleon-care/...

    Eye closing

Both eyes closed during the day could be an indicator of something more concerning. One eye may be something like debris in that eye, which they'll usually clear on their own with misting. Always the same eye, and how often?

Did I miss his first shed? :(

Possible. At that age, my cham's entire shed lasted only 2 hours. Have you found any dead skin in the enclosure?

    Boberry

Is that with or without D3 and Phosphorus? Anything else (multivitamin?) Urate should be white, or mostly white with a bit (or tinge) of orange. This will indicate he's adequately hydrated. He should really be in at least a 24 x 24 x 48H A hybrid would be closest to what you have now, and...

DREMEL: I think I may have just joined the 20th (not 21st) century

All of the accessories (except drill bits) that came with the Dremel are 1/8", and it came with both an 1/8" collet and keyless chuck (and the flex shaft, if that's the same as the wand). Getting the additional collets was an impulse, but thinking it over (since I posted above), I'm covered in...

    UVB light fixture

This is an older thread, and Sky11 hasn't logged on since 10/21/21. It looks to me like they were glued, but there are probably other methods that would work. Pre-drilling (to prevent splitting) and pinning with wire brads, zip-ties, lashing come to mind.

    Missus got her tank! :)

Can Reptiles Experience Separation Anxiety? Missus noticed that when she's sitting with Ol' Mitch while he's in his daily soak, he's very calm, but if she gets up to do something else—even for just a few minutes—he seems to display agitation or anxiety, becoming quite restless. Curious about...

Hold back period after roach bins potentially sprayed with bleach?

Dubias have worked out well for me, so I haven't had much reason to dig into other species. 🤷‍♂️ I'm wondering if the brown banded may have been there all along, but recently grew enough to be noticed. OTOH, it's native to much of the Eastern US. Maybe he went to a party in the bin...
