First Gravid Cham - Health Questions

Good to know thank you! Was she eating right up until she laid? My girl still acts like shes starving, but she's definitely more grouchy about coming onto my hand to get fed

First Gravid Cham - Health Questions

No not at all. Her eyes have been open and she’s alert, still eating as much as I give her, her mouth stays shut etc.

First Gravid Cham - Health Questions

Yeah I’ve tried massaging her belly, don’t feel any lumps at all. Just bizarre she’s been evacuating her bowels and spent so long at the bottom of her enclosure. I’ll give her another few days in there, if she hasn’t dug any test holes I’m planning on booking with a vet

First Gravid Cham - Health Questions

I didn’t have enough dirt for the whole enclosure, so I put the box in to cover half of it, so the dirt on the other half would be twice as deep. Figured it would be better than just 6” deep

    Help?

If it still looks like that I would definitely recommend going to the vet ASAP. Some really amazing and incredibly knowledgeable people on here, but always the safest bet to go to the vet in situations like these.

    Cham ate shed

Totally fine! Little weird/gross to watch lol, but there's nothing in her own skin that can hurt her, and it's probably easier to digest than chitin.

Official cage build thread for Bandit and Apollo

The pothos I bought came in a light plastic pot with a hook on it, so I just put two zipties in the top of the enclosure and hooked the pot onto those! It's nice being able to remove it easily for cleaning.

    A big drainage problem.

Depending how limited your options are, you can use your tap water, then when/if you notice it clogging or the pressure increasing you can get a scale removing kit. There’s food safe ones in hardware stores where I live

    A big drainage problem.

Got a picture of it? Depending on what it looks like, you could put caulking on to make it waterproof, and wipe it flat from the inside so there’s nothing for your cham to nibble on

    Lily's Digging!

Perfect thank you so much! I just got my girl a few weeks ago, but she was living in a cramped glass enclosure with improper supplements and feeding and UVB, so it's good to know that those factors can play into the progression through their laying cycle. My girl is very overweight so I'm...

    Lily's Digging!

That's awesome congrats! I have a female (albeit veiled) that's just starting to hang around the bottom of her enclosure. What was the timeline like for you in terms of her progression? I.e. from when she first starting nosing around the bottom of her enclosure, when she evacuated her bowels...

    Weirdo or health problems?

I am unsure on this species specifically! But I believe it would be great to get some horizontal perches in there, at different heights. I found where the max temperature my chameleon should bask in and put the highest one there, then several at lower elevations. I just used branches as wide as...

Bioactive Setup and Background Guide(s) - Thoughts?

I would love this! I've been a bit overwhelmed with just getting a basic set up right, so getting one source from someone who knows what they're doing would help a ton with taking that next step (turning a screen enclosure into a bioactive one).

    Vet Appointment- Reschedule ?

Okay perfect thank you, that's what I did. She was checking out the lay bin a little this morning, but she still ate a cricket from my hand. Just going to wait it out and keep a close eye on her!

    Vet Appointment- Reschedule ?

Oh sorry, not sure why! /a/1WvqOUK is the imgur code, might work if you paste that after the imgur.com. Yeah I think I’m just going to keep a very close eye on her, she’s been at the bottom of her enclosure quite a bit so hoping she’ll stop eating and evacuate soon !

    Vet Appointment- Reschedule ?

No worries! Appreciate you checking. I already canceled her appointment before your reply (at the advice of someone else who’s been helping me out), but I’ll keep a close eye on her and book her in ASAP if I notice anything slightly off! Thank you for your help, I’ll definitely keep you updated!

It’s about 50% reptisoil and reptisand. Keep it wet enough I can dig a hole with one hand easily
