    Is she gravid?

Thank you for clarifying that! I did make a small “starter hole” when I put the bin in, but wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do.

    Is she gravid?

I’m using white copier paper taped in panels on the sides and front door of the enclosure so I can still get in to feed her without having to adjust a makeshift curtain or something. I un-taped them to take pics of the enclosure, but they’re back up now. (See picture.) She did have a few extra...

    Is she gravid?

Sorry! It was late (for me) when I made my last post yesterday, didn’t realize I didn’t include the enclosure pics! The current plan is to get more live plants in there, especially something vine-like for that left wall above the laying bin, I just haven’t decided on what to get yet. I have...

    Is she gravid?

@Brodybreaux25 Chameleon Info: ◦ Your Chameleon - Female Veiled chameleon, guessed to be 6-12 months old. I adopted her from a reptile rescue in early June 2018. ◦ Handling - She is handled about twice a week. Once when it’s time to do the “deep clean” of her cage, and...

    Is she gravid?

@ERKleRose 12”deep, 12”long, 10”wide. Filled with washed, packable play sand, with several vines and branches leading down to it. I also put up some DIY privacy screens so she doesn’t feel like she is being watched.

    Is she gravid?

Regarding my female veiled chameleon of unknown age (she is a rescue): For the past few days, she has been restless in her enclosure, digging at the walls and floor, displaying vivid colors, acting extra aggressive, and looks huge to me. She hasn’t been bred, so if she is gravid, it is an...

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

Update: It’s been a week and three days, and she is still operating normally on all fronts. My herp vet told me it was safe to switch back to chitinous bugs at this point, so yesterday was her first day eating crickets again. Thanks to everyone for their input and advice!

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

I haven’t found anything yet, but she has had consistent and healthy BMs every single day since the incident. I had stopped feeding crickets as of Thursday night and switched to wax worms (the plastic leaf discovery was Friday morning), and today was the first day I didn’t find any cricket...

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

Just an updat: She actually passed a normal BM around 3:30pm. Nothing foreign found when I picked through it, though. I guess I don’t know if this was waste that had already passed through her stomach and intestines prior to the plastic ingestion, or of this is a a pretty positive sign...

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

I will definitely be on poop patrol. Thank you for all the advice and guidance. If she ever stops raging at the sight of my phone, I will definitely post a video. :) We don’t get a lot of chameleon surrenders where I volunteer, but when we do, they almost always come with kind of bad health...

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

I know it’s weird, but we do this every day now. ‍ I tried to get a video of my female, too, but she goes into Hulk-mode when my phone comes out. Every time I pick it up, she whips around hissing and biting and doesn’t stop until I put the phone back down. (All of my “nice” photos of her are...

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

This was from the very first time I soaked him, and I hadn’t thought to put the towel down in the bottom yet. Sorry about the background noise, my boyfriend is into video games.

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

Slightly phone/computer illiterate—it says my video file is too large, and I don’t know what to do to make it smaller. I have an iPhone 6s. Is there a relatively easy way to do this, or should I try to send the clip to you in a private message?

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

Yes, I called after your first reply. The soonest the closest exotics vet can see me is next week. I put an email out to the three vets I volunteer with to see if maybe they had any availability sooner.

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

I will try to get one today! She does the long-arm reach to get to the container. It’s also short enough for her to climb out of, which I have seen her do several times when we’ve been outside and she wants to perch on the side of it to get more sun. She hates my phone though, so usually when I...

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

Unrelated to my initial post, but I felt that I should clarify—in the older male’s case of dehydration, we tried a dripper, a times mister, manual misting for longer periods of time, and even a shallow dish with a air hose to make it bubble (I know it’s not a very good option, but we tried it)...

I’m sorry, Brodybreaux25, I just realized it was you posting both of those replies. Sorry for my multiple replies back!

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

Thanks, that was actually my first thought, too. I didn’t find anything at the bottom (and as I was removing the other plastic plants, I shook them out and made sure it hadn’t gotten stuck somewhere.) For reference, the leaf in question is 2cm at the widest point and 3.5cm long. The eaten part...

    Veiled ate a plastic leaf

I prepare about 3/4” of tepid water in a container and I supervise while they hang out in it. My female has more regular BM/urates when she soaks and cannot get out of my hand fast enough to get to that water; my male (who is of unknown age but clearly quite old) will only drink when he sits in...
