I read that veiled chameleons can have three different growth rates depending on how much their fed. I feed the guy around 6-8 crickets a day and I'm pretty sure it's working because he's shedding once a month which is what i also read was optimal.
Thanks! I actually thought about that. Originally I wanted some type of outdoor free range setup but the place I moved to theirs cats everywhere 24/7. My neighbor even feeds them
Also, today he decided he didn't want to leave his tree after being on it for 30 minutes, and I had a pretty hard time getting him off without grabbing him ( I would never do this). I finally got him to crawl off onto a stick in order to return him home but in the process, he hissed at me for...
Here is the experience that I have had with my juvenile male veiled chameleon. There is a royal palm outside of his enclosure and in the afternoon he loves to climb onto my hand and then onto his tree. Sometimes this goes smoothly, but I also have a lot of difficulties getting him back in his...
Also, I found a screen cage I want to get. The brand is Zilla and its 30 x 18, 30 so it will fit my stand I have now but it will be a good bit taller. I want to get it asap but life is making it difficult, I just found out I can't buy books or access codes w/ my student loan, so hopefully soon...
"play time" or "recreation" went smoothly today even though he still has a little shed on his cask. I moved his large plant closer to his cage so he could climb out just about on his own, and then he later climbed back in on his own w/o displaying any territorial colors unlike yesterday.
Bonding has been going well, and faster than I thought it would. For the most part he will willingly climb onto something I'm holding onto and then up onto my hand. The past few days when he has done this I put him on his tree (which is actually just a good sized Royal Palm in my room) and it...
Thank you!!! I actually changed my lighting a bit yesterday. I added one brand new 5.0 UVB bulb, and took out one of the old ones. I left in one bulb that is too old to still give off UVB to help light up the tank. Someone at a specialty pet store told me a 5.0 would be enough and i'm also...
Here's an update of how things are going just in case anyone cares, i haven't moved him into a different tank yet but I'm building a screen cage that's the same length and width as a 40 breeder so it will fit my stand, but taller. I've gotten three live plants which he loves, and I'm dusting all...
