Thanks I am new to chams and I have been using this forum since I got my chameleon. Unfortunately I can't fork out that much money at this time. My chameleon is currently the only reptile that I have and he is the most beautiful and needy reptile I have ever had.
It is like I said no one is an expert on anything and there is always something new you can learn about everything and because of you I learned something new today. I didn't realize that about the basking bulbs, but it makes sense thank you for telling me that it will save me some money. Where...
I want to see what kind of bulb changing schedule(s) other keepers tend to use, so my 3 questions are: How often do you change your UVB bulbs?, How often do you change your Basking/Heat bulbs? And, How do you keep up with which bulbs need to be changed? I have about 9 years of experience in...
Thank you for that information, but the stuck shed ocurse around a small scar on his tail from when he was a baby and got injured by another chameleon at the breeder. I also make sure to give him properly gutloaded so that is not the problem. He also gets wax worms as treats to encourage him to...
Thank you for replying how ever I do that when ever he starts to show signs that he is going to shed. That is one of the things I meant by misting methods. Do you have any more information that you might think could help.
Does any one know of good oils and or products that are safe for chameleons. I have a juvenile(delinquent) veiled chameleon and he always has a problem with shed sticking around his tale I have been using shed aid from zoo med but, it is too expensive and hard to find when I need it. My...
Thank you I have never fed them to any of my animals past or present(presently I only have one Veiled chameleon) and just was not sure. I decided that I would order them from Josh's frogs and see how my juvenile delinquent Pascal liked them.
The first thing I'm going to address is that misting will momentarily drop the temperature inside the enclosure. I also think I should mention that your thermometer is not properly set up. The probe is directly under the fixture it should be unde the outer side of the fixture but also on the...
I use both and I have never had an accuracy problem with the zoo med digital thermometers unless they are not set up properly. I have had problems with pretty much every analog unit on the market. I do use the laser temp reader once a week to make sure that everything is good.
Yes your basking spot should be 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit. Also I would not use an analog thermometer or hygrometer for a reptile as they are not the most accurate or consistent. I have seen some that are off by 20 degrees Fahrenheit so I would get a digital thermometer and hygrometer.
Also I think you should be feeding her/him more here is a link to the chameleon forum veiled chameleon care sheet which should be helpful just keep in mind that all veiled chameleons are not the same when it comes to supplementation needs. https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/...
Where is the heat bulb? What wattage is the heat bulb? Why is the temperature unknown? The reason I am asking these questions is that the temperature is very important to reptiles and the way they digest and process food and nutriants. If they aren't able to get enough heat they won't be able to...
