So, a week on and my boy, Tatu, is doing so much better. Seems to be happier, healthier, and growing by the day! He's getting more colour now and is much more lively. He still closes one eye every now and again, but don't think that's anything to worry about. My panther used to do that from time...
Well, it's thanks to your help that I now know that I'm doing it correctly! Can't thank you enough!
A computer fan is a great idea! I may try that. Going to put some more vents in my viv so there's plenty of air movement. Your chams really are beautiful.
They are all beautiful - thank you for sharing. I love the enclosures you've got too - they're really smart.
I can't wait to see how my little guys colours come out. He's around 8 months, so hopefully won't be long!
Thank you again.
To be honest, I have been thinking about getting a misting system as I've heard good things about them. May look into this more and see what's out there.
Maybe it's just a one off thing that I've not seen before, or it might be a one off altogether, so no reason to worry. My panther used to...
I've never seen him clean his eyes, if I'm honest. I don't have a misting system, just hand pump it a couple of times a day. I'll try and get some close ups, if I can, with his eyes open. The scratching is something I haven't seen before, so wondering whether I should mist a bit more and see how...
Thanks everyone.
I think I may of spoken too soon! I've come home to him scratching his eyes . Now, I understood that to mean that he might be dehydrated? Am I right in thinking that?
Well, what a difference a day makes! I've been home to check on my little guy at lunchtime and he has brightened up, is moving around, and, most importantly, his eyes were open!!! Am hoping that this is it now and that he's not suffering due to incorrect UVB light/heat sources.
Thank you again...
Thanks for coming back to me about the lighting. I've tested it and it's brighter and he came alive! Started moving around more, which is great to see. Will keep an eye on him tomorrow and hoping that's all the issues sorted, fingers crossed.
I know, I was going to get some more vine/branches...
I've just updated one of the ReptiGlo 5 fluorescents for the ReptiGlo 2, and it works! It makes such a difference! Hopefully this will help. Thank you.
I pretty much have ignored what they've said as they sound like they have no clue whatsoever!
In the manual for the lighting system (I'll have to have a look at what system I have as I can't remember off the top of my head), says that you can only have two x ReptiGlo 5 fluorescents or 2 x...
Hi everyone, sorry for the long message, but wanted to update you on what was going on.
So, on Saturday I went to the place I purchased him and the whole set-up from and spoke to the manager. I explained what had been going on with him and that I need to update the lighting and heating set-up...
That's great, thank you so much for your help. I'll have a good look this morning and see what's at my local homeware store, and I'll have a look in the pet store I got him from. Will also get a basking spot light and see how we go.
Thank you so much again for all your help. I'll keep you...
Thanks for the info. Sorry if I'm sounding stupid here, but when you say fluorescent tube light, do you mean one from a homeware store, or is there such a thing as a chameleon one? Never had to do this before, so a little unsure as to what sort to get.
Thanks, Michelle
Thank you so much to both of you for the advice. Am going first thing tomorrow to sort the lighting issues out.
Will continue to mist more than twice a day for 5-10 minutes and let you know how he gets on. Thank you again.
Thank you @AZChamFan - I will look into updating the light and the heat bulb so he can be more comfortable.
When I had my panther, I had a spotlight bulb, which was perfect. Was surprised when the shop sold me this one for him.
What full spectrum fluorescent would you suggest please? Also...
You give them plain calcium without vitamin D3, other vitamins and phosphorus every day? I understood it to be 2-3 times a week.
Have you got a Jacksons? If so, how long have you had him/her for?
Thanks.
Lunchtime update:
He was walking around fine with eyes open - had him out for about 10 minutes and he ate a cricket from the tweezers no problem.
He sat for a minute with eyes shut, but soon started moving again.
Have given him a good misting so maybe he is just a bit dehydrated. Will keep...
