Thanks for the vet advice - unfortunately Noth Haven is a bit more than a drive away for me! I'm in the original Jersey in the Channel isles in Europe!

novice keeper - Veiled in trouble

A month has gone by now since our last visit to the vet the antibiotics were finished with little improvement in my girls mobility, she still just moves slowly around the base of her viv and does not really attempt to climb the branches. I have moved her uv (new 5.0 lamp) down and set up an...

Only when she sees me opening the viv door! - then her colour darkens too and she turns her head to confront the intruder

The vet I see is supposed to be the best there is around here, not saying he's a Cham expert but no real choice! She's still lethargic, spends all day at base of her enclosure wearing her dark cloak with orange and tourqouise spots, no desire to climb or interest in investigating her laying bin...

He didn't say anymore than he could see what looked like bunches of grapes that he though could be cysts on ovaries. Re the shoulder I think and hope it's just the angle the photo was taken at that makes you think there is an issue.nothing I detect when holding her.

novice keeper - Veiled in trouble

Just got hold of my vet, on the positive side he was very confident she was not too overweight, impacted or egg bound...but on the negative side it seems I misunderstood him on our last visit, his concern is that the grape like bunches he noted on scan may indicate her ovaries are cystic! (No...

novice keeper - Veiled in trouble

Seems slightly stronger today though still quite uncoordinated and liable to fall off of her branch. Getting a little concerned that I'm not giving her any peace as I'm constantly checking her condition, temperature etc. hence she is quite dark and grouchy! Substrate has been removed, and...

I only have a small bin in with her at the moment just to see if she showed any interest - but as her mobility is so poor not sure she's capable. Privacy - should the enclose be screened?

Aware of that so I very tentatively give a drop or two at a time into dewlap rather than down throat so she chooses to swallow ...or not. Hope that's the correct way?

I haven't exactly force fed - she opened her mouth ajar, I popped the hoppers inbetween head first and she chomped down chewed and swallowed - I have syringe fed water tho as concerned about hydration when not eating at all earlier

Ok, think they are catipillar of what we call generically hawk moths - not commercially available here

Not sure what hornworms are (moth catipillar/larvae?), not available here anyway. I have wax worms to kept for treats - read they're not great nutritionally and quiet fatty so probably not appropriate for my obese girl!

That's right I'm in Jersey, Channel isles, the original one not New Jersey! You don't feed locusts on your side? Or call them something else?
