Never heard of the eggshell thing?? Mealworms should be a treat and not a daily meal. Got my boy some Locusts as the pet shop only fed him on crickets and he loves them (around 10 a day) I'm from the uk though and I beleave you cant get these in the US? I've also whitnessed him drinking from a...
I was going to do the same with a mist bottle and spray but after a few days of doing by hand I thought there must be an easier was of doing this. I work full time during the week so misting at midday is not possible after reading about how long and when to mist a chameleon. So I decided to...
A few pics of the water bucket with heater, pump set up and timer.:) I might also put and air bubbler in the water to keep it moving and oxygenated. Oh and I'm using filtered water as I'm not sure which water is best for veilds? Any help on that would be great. I don't fancy giving him tap water...
I have managed to build my own diy misting system for around £30 all from bits of eBay. I was in the same position as you and thought "I don't really want to spend more money on a misting system as they aren't cheap". I then thought its only a water pump and some piping with nozzles ect. So me...
That's a lot of glass I think...... you might want to cover some of it incase he/she spots its self in the reflection and starts getting stressed. Is this a new enclosure or has it been used before as he might be fine if he's used to it. Each to their own. Looks good though.
You've got me thinking now but I'm sure all will be fine, like I say if I see anything looking dodgy I will be removing it. These guys must have a nightmare in the wild....
I see what your saying but that could be the same thing if the bark started to strip on the climbing branches and became loose. I will be keeping a VERY close eye on every thing so as soon as I see something like loose/rotten bark I will remove it. I'm hoping to keep the feeding in the top half...
Ummm this uvb thing.... Now I've been told that a uvb 10 bulb is for a veiled and uvb 5 for panther's (not sure about other chameleons) and if you have a screen cage and a you need a uvb 10 as the screen/mesh takes away a lot of the uvb. The number of the bulb represents the percentage of uvb...
No I havn't got bark like the small orchid sort, it's actual bark from the side of logs and stumps ect. I have read about impaction and really don't want that to happen to be honest so have tried to cover all the ground with various leaves and bark. It's mostly the leaves you can see in the picture.
I was going to ask the pet shop on Saturday about the whole calcium and vitamin thing as I've read/heard a lot of different things but I will be getting a genaral calcium dust aswell if that's what I need. Thanks for letting me know.
KeopiCat- I understand the issue with the hibiscus plants, I...
I also done alot of reading with regards to ventilation and know that chameleons like a good air flow. The cage has vents in the back wall which I have cut out of the background so the air flows. I've also drilled out 3 75mm holes with vents in the top of the cage above the lights because of...
Hello fellow chameleon keepers. I have recently joined the forum so thought I'd say hello :). I'm from the uk (England) and am collecting my first male veiled chameleon this Saturday so am very excited. I have been coming to this forum for the past 6/7 weeks for a lot of information on them...
