For you lighting and heat bulb I HOGHLY HIGHLY recommend one of these.

It's great! I never have to adjust the temp for the season and I know it's working by just watching the cage first a bit and...
I buy almost ally bugs from dubia roaches.com
I just bought silk worms from coastal silkworm
I get crickets from a local feed store since I can't keep them alive for very long
Luckily other than the hand issue he's moving, and drinking, and eating what I give him
Update for everyone
I've really gone in and re-rvaluated my setup and husbandry and I am going to commit to being ON TOP of my gut loading and hydration with razor sharp focus for awhile to try to get him...
I just ordered a pod of 50 so I'll be adding them this week. Should be here Wednesday.
Also will be trying to slam gutload my roaches lol by just adding tons of new gutload until they pop!
I'm looking into it.
I'm going to try to get a fecal sample and lump it all into 1 appointment.
Yeah he'll be getting extra mist tomorrow and I'll add in his dripper for a few days too.
it's one of those things, it's worked for so long and I just got to the point of trusting it
It really just looks like his leg/hand is swollen.
I'll order some hornworms tonight
Might be gout if it's related to dehydration.
turns out my level sensor I have for the water bucket was stuck on "green" amd my mist king has been dry for probably a week now. I remember filling it at least a week or more ago.
Can gout be reversed if it's a hydration issue? He still shoots...
Here are the environmental stats

Mist king with 1 long mist 9am and a few 10sec at night
Humidifier overnight until 2am

5 months in and
I LOVE IT!!!
this needs to be mandatory equipment in the list of things to buy.
Now with the temps heating up I don't need to sit and futz with the dimming.... it does it automatically.
Seriously, get one!
Yeah you could even replace the screen with heavy Guage plastic.
Or just fo with a diy zen habitats style.
The rail is available and you can buy pvc sheets and cut to fit.
It's easier than you think.
Check my posts for my diy cage
I think home depots (at least where I live) collect them.
I've known others to wrap them in a heavy garbage bag then break the bulb with a hammer and then put them in the trash...
Not saying that's what you should do but I've known people who do that.
OK 24hrs in
...
Lots of sheds, not many dead crickets. Shook
All the denris to a corner, waited 20min, shooed away the live ones amd vacuumed up the remaining.
They love dry bug burger and flukers cricket diet.
Also really love the cricket quencher.
Wish me luck through the weekend.
