I'm sorry, that was a huge typo, the weight drop is 13 grams. The vet did the first weighing and I did the same when I got home to check if our scales are the same (I'm using a kitchen scale). And they were. The last weighing was done with the same scale. My apologies for the typo.
Thank you all - I'll try to give more info:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled cham, male, age is (according to forummembers) up to 8 years old, been with me for about a month
Handling - I try to offer him food every day, but not moving him around
Feeding - Wax worms, morio worms, locust...
Hi Chamel619
That is indeed duct tape that I used to add a few more branched to the main horizontal one. But it has been there for only 3 days. I thought that since he's really weak I'd add a few more branches so he won't fall down. If that's a problem I'll remove it asap.
The info you ask for...
Hi
I'm still roaming the forum looking for an answer as to why my cham is still not doing OK. I have redone his entire enclosure, checked and changed all lights and headlamp, installed fans for ventilation, removed some of the plants that were doing not so good. I've bought all sorts of foods...
uh ok... totday I was looking at him and he started to poop. Not sure if it was my haircut but he did. He did it on the sand/moss part of the enclosure so it looked a tad messy. I scraped it onto apiece of paper and took some pictures of it because it doesn't look right (according to the poop...
Update: He's been with us for 2,5 weeks now and so far I could feed him a few waxworms, a few crickets, bug juice (just a bit) and a few syringes with gekko food+vitamines (Someone advised me to do that on any reptile that's weak). So far he didn't drink on his own (to my knowledge anyway)...
Just an update:
Been a few days and he's still not eating, he sleeps/hangs a lot but moves a bit more than before. Gave him bug juice twice and offer him food e few times a day but he won't eat anything. I take the bugs out again before the lights go out. Not sure how I can get him to eat more...
The tomatoes are long gone. Removed them as soon as I was informed they might be dangerous. He's still not eating and went down to the floor again, hiding in de plants. I have added some real plants (don't know the English word for them) for him to hide behind when he's up his branch. But I he...
He was hanging upside down from his branch again last night, face down in a plant so I helped him down and put him between the leaves on the floor. He was still there this morning and I fed him some more bug juice but I get the feeling he's dying. Will contact vet again tomorrow but I won't...
Found a recipe: 4 waxworms, 4-6 crickets, vitamins, calcium+d3, water and some egg yoke. I was able to use a syringe to squeeze some in when he opened his mouth. I have half of it left for tomorrow or possibly this evening. At least he had a meal now.
I have contacted Chris Anderson and hope he'll send me the recipe for the bug juice. I'm really not convinced that he'll make so I check him a lot (mostly from a distance so he won't stress too much). He does hiss at me when I enter the room (or at least I think that because I can't hear him in...
I just checked again and he was hanging from his tail down against a branch on the floor. I took him off of it and put him on the floor before he falls again. I don't really know what to do and it is really frustrating me.
:( My wife just checked on him and he had fallen of his branch and was laying on his side, feet up and sleeping. He's still alive and I've turned him back up again but I'm really unsure about it all now. I freaking hate this!!!
Ok so now it's two days after I've been to the vet and I sill think he's very inactive. I don't see him hunt for anything and he still kinda lays there. I took him out today to try and get some food in him and i managed to get two crickets in him and a bit of water. He did hiss at me twice which...
OK been to the vet and he's not in as a shape I thought he was in. He was not taken care of as he should have been by his previous owner and the results of that is probably what we see now. They gave him a checkup and injected a vitamin en fluid boost. Everything else I have so far changed was...
34°C (~93°F) is what I measure with a digital probe and temp on the cooler side is 20°C (68°F).
I hand fed him some waxworks yesterday and some water with vitamines (syringe). He actually didn't mind it at all and sipped 3 syringes like that. Maybe he's dehydrated from being in the warmth 24/7...
@brownie64
Thanks... was afraid you'd say that. Will call that vet to see what he says.
@carol5208
The previous owner was feeding him tomato... I'll remove that from his list. And about the avatar... I googled a chameleon image and this one popped up, didn't know it was from a member here so...
