I just recently purchased a plant and put it next to the window for Sputnik to hang out on and get some natural sun. How long do you guys let them hang out in the sun? I don't want to over expose him. Thanks for the help!
We have had no issues with keeping up the humidity. We keep our house 45-50% (we are able to control the humidity in our home). That on top of misting him every 3-4 hours he is good to go. We also have a corn snake in another part of the house which is also a reason we control the humidity.
We are getting in touch with our local apple orchard to get some dead branches so we can throw them in the oven to disinfect them and put them in his cage so he has more highway. Thank you very much for the tip on lighting. We've had him since Christmas day and he has been thriving. I have...
We talked and Decided to use a form of reptile soil that will be more safe so we'll make that change over today when we put in the misting system. Thank you for your help. It's always much appreciated
Finally finished Sputnik's cage. Got rid of the corn plant and found a weeping fig and a photos. I was very surprised as soon as I put them in the cage he was all over the plant eating crickets so there was no adjustment period It seems. This weekend we will be adding the monsoon mister so he...
Sputnik is all over the cage now that he shed. I'm curious as to why? Is he hungry and hunting? Is he feeling better because he is less constricted? I know it's probably a silly question but I'm curious.
Sputnik shed for the first time in my care this morning. I've had him for a week, he is a month old. And WOW, they shed no warning! He woke up, went to his basking spot and bam, his skin was lose. He looks so pretty now that he shed! I must be doing something right ;)
Do baby Veiled sleep more then adults? Sputnik is about a month old and goes to his sleepy spot about 3-330 pm daily. I turn off his lights about 6 and turn them on around 6 and he is sleeping straight through I believe. Sometimes I wake up and his worms and crickets are gone from his feeding...
Congrats on your new little critter and good luck! It sounds like you are off to a great start. I'm a new member too so probably have no idea what I am talking about lolol. He's awfully cute.
I added some more fake plants to Sputnik's room yesterday. He is near a window and gets some natural light from the sun rise. No direct sunlight into his room though. I am adding a feeding bowl today as well. I will feel much better about knowing what he eats rather then him chasing them down in...
