So on Sunday I moved, and Howard was the last thing I got out of my old apartment. I was in a bit of a hurry and he had been hanging out on his plant just fine for about 30 minutes, so I decided to just take him on his plant in the car while my girlfriend drove. He was fine for about the first...
Here you go...
Welcome to the forums! I am going to try to answer all of these for you….
Avoid pet shops, chameleons in pet shops are usually in poor health unfortunately. Reptile shows are the cheapest, but for a good strong animal I recommend getting one from a breeder. Where are you from...
I was just curious at about what age do veiled chams reach full potential in size and color? I realize that it is probably varied for individuals, but I was just curious what some experienced keepers thought.
The only time he puffs up is when my camera is out. He just kind of looks at himself and tries to climb on the mirror instead of firing up. I thought that was kind of weird for chameleon behavior, but the fact that he is totally chill makes up for that. He is a great pet. Hands down.
I decided to rename my veiled chameleon Howard recently. I just think it's fitting for him. He likes to chill on a pothos hanging pot in my living room and doesn't mind being handled at all. He just finished shedding and I must say he is looking awesome. He seems to glow and has a random bright...
I originally decided to take this picture because he is having a problem with a shed at the moment. When i put my camera in the enclosure... which I haven't done in probably 2 months... he blew up for the first time. I was really happy I had the camera handy for the moment. Anyways, he started...
If you are using pine wood for your enclosure make sure to use a sealent of some type as the pine oil (the stuff that smells piny) is bad for reptiles and usually succumbs to moisture. I used poplar for the enclosure and fiberglass with holes drilled in it for the bottom.
Yes they are eye drops and he got them about a week ago for a kitten who wouldn't open an eye. exp. date is 10-12-09. I just don't want them to go to waste due to the fact that i am a college student and if ever I did run into a problem with my guy's eyes I may not be able to afford them. He...
hello I was wondering if Gentamicin Sulfate is the same as the Gentamicin mentioned in this post. My roommate has some Gentamicin Sulfate leftover from a kittens eye problem. I was just wondering if I could use it for my emergency kit.
A lot of people who sell chameleons ship them at night and won't ship unless the temps are above 30 F. Being that you are from Ohio and it is November that could be the problem. The fact that you have contacted them and have had no reply isn't cool though.
I took these pics yesterday... and he started his shed as soon as I put him back in his enclosure. I thought he was supposed to be ugly right before a shed? He sure wasn't.
From my understanding adult veileds need a basking temp in the mid 90's. Dusting with calcium with d3 should only occur once a month, that could be your problem. Try using calcium with OUT d3 every day instead. Also try to mix up his meals with some hornworms or silkworms from time to time that...
That guy in the last picture looks exactly like Rivi. He will show his pretty colors though when the situation is right. If you still have him check on him while he is sleeping, or take him out of the enclosure and put him on a plant and see if he goes green.
Holy crap... what are you feeding that guy? Rivi is no where near that big (his attitude is though). I wonder if its that california sunshine thats helping his size out. it got to cold to put my guy outside about a month ago here. we should start a thread so we can compare/ check out how all the...
It has been awhile since I have been able to post some pictures. Rivi has really come out and is starting to show some really cool patterns anpd BRIGHT colors. He is now just over 4 months and is already wow-ing every one who sees him, and to think that I was actually worried about his color...
