New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

Oh yeah, I noticed my male refused the waxworms also, maybe the BSFL and other worms. I know he's been eating something, but not actually sure what. I haven't tried crickets yet. I'll try and get some soon. I've just been scared of escapees because of my living situation. Thanks. I started...

New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

So I've had them for almost a couple months now. They seem to be doing good. The female is growing fast, but I was most worried about the male. Food for them I've thrown in there include mealworms, waxworms, waxworm moths, black soldier fly larva, a black soldier fly, and some small mystery...

New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

A quick update: I weighed them both a few days apart and their weight increased slightly. Didn't weigh them on arrival, but still seems like promising news and I have seen them both eat.

New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

Thank you. @Mendez Looks like I guessed correctly on their gender. She seems much smaller and younger than the other, so I guess I missed out on any wild babies from her. I'll have to find some good branches. I had a cute little pitcher plant that was growing nicely, but took it out for...

New Brookesia owner. Please help with ID and any tips and tricks for acclimation

A few months ago I posted a list of plants that can be found in Madagascar. Mostly ignored that list and and turned it into a generic terrarium with the hope that I'd be able to put some Brookesia in it eventually. It's been growing for a while now. A front opening 40 gallon. On Saturday I...

    At Home Cricket Breeding

Good luck. Follow the guides. I tried cutting corners on a cricket bin and it failed, but now there is an accidental self sustaining population in my bioactive enclosure.

    Fogging at night

Have the same experiments been done on veileds where they increase in water weight overnight after fogging?

    Bioactive Feeder Bin?

I have some escaped crickets in my bioactive setup that are still reproducing months later. They're a bit annoying because my guy will eat those instead of the dubia roaches. My intended cricket bin was not done right and stunk and died.

Need help identifying little black beetles - are these mealworms? (Tucson)

Looking at iNaturalist, looks like Discoderus obsidianus which is my best preliminary guess.

Need help identifying little black beetles - are these mealworms? (Tucson)

A few months ago I found a lot of little black bugs in a trap and brought them inside and tried to feed them to my little guy. Soon after they infested my house. Until then, they seemed good enough, and bred prolifically so I threw them in my Dubai box to see what happened. Months later they're...

    Rack stand

I've got a zoomed 40 gal ~36x18x18 on a wire shelf. Won't get anything in it other than plants for a while though. The tank is sitting on it's plastic trim bits and not the glass. It's a lot more stable than it looks, but when I move again I'll try and find one with actual pins.

Thanks, that's very good to know.

How long does import season last? I decided I shouldn't get any until after the holidays since I'll be gone too long and too often.

    Exo Terra Vine

It's so close to being amazing, but it sheds so much and makes it not very good. Seems like there not a very good replacement for natural branches. Fake vines fall apart, bamboo can allegedly cause splinters, and I've heard plain dowels are too smooth and uniform and not recommended. Maybe...

    Critter Keeper for Egg?

Yep. Just leave the egg as it is in it's tub with the sponges, and follow the directions to keep them moist. A dark closet will give you the most success. (light negatively affects germination rates) When it gets close to hatch, take a good look daily. My guy is a year old now from an egg I...

Neptune Apex style controllers for reptiles?

Exactly. It's got some fancy features built into it like seasons. But there isn't an Idiot's Guide to the hardware. I was thinking this earlier today, but if I was of the entrepreneurial sort, I'd put together a simple kit myself with the software preloaded, then sell it for a ridiculous...

Neptune Apex style controllers for reptiles?

I was just thinking of this today. There's a few projects where people use a RaspberryPi but nothing plug and play, or even a kit. I found this recently. https://theyosh.github.io/TerrariumPI/

Parasite treatment in leaf chameleons (Brookesia stumpffi)

Thank you. That's kinda what I've realized. Assuming I get WC, then that cage setup is tainted and if I have any babies to make sure they never go in. If I ever have the 'problem' of making addition bloodlines shortly after, like if a WC female brings a surprise, I'll cross that bridge when I...
