    Massive poo! Help.

I would definitely note dehydration. His urate has a yellowish orange tinge to it. Also, the substrate could have played a role in constipation, as the stringy part looks like partially undigested plant matter/bark. If the substrate is necessary for whatever reason, try a layer of mesh over it.

    A question about lighting

Please don't be offended, I didn't mean to sound rude. I appreciate your willingness to be helpful and that's what's important. My apologies!

    A question about lighting

No need. LoL. Just going to move his deep dome light from old cage to new. After buying an automatic misting system, new cage, and lights, I've already dropped a thousand dollars. And I still have to get more live plants and vines for the project. Not complaining, as I adore my Cham, but no need...

    A question about lighting

Thanks for responding so quickly! Just figured I'd ask ahead of time. Just received a Dragonstrand large atrium enclosure today and am going to set up my Veiled's adult cage tomorrow. Figured it would, but wanted some sort of confirmation before making the cage too hot or too cold. Thanks again...

    A question about lighting

I recently purchased a Tropic Blaze quad fixture(thanks LightYourReptiles.com!) I am wondering if when I set it up, will I still need a basking light, or will the daylight bulbs provide light and heat? Thanks in advance!

Pet stores are finally getting the idea!

But they still keep the chams themselves in a foot by foot abomination of a habitat. I bought this kit in August, and it was pretty underwhelming to be honest. The only thing I still use is the cage.

    New Veiled Chameleon

The sad part is Backwater Reptiles is just a drop shipper. The guy who runs the business probably has no clue what shape the chams he's selling are in. After researching them, not too many people have good things to say about them. On a side note, would it help at all to dust the crickets with a...

    Won't Eat His Vegetables

LoL. Glad to see I'm not the only one. I tried many times with different greens, trying to give my veiled veggies to no avail. Then one day, I watched him eat his hibiscus. Cham salad! He eats leaves quite frequently, but his favorites are buds and the occasional blooming flower. I have had...

So the panther market has crashed?

my 2 cents I just want to personally thank everyone on CF. If it hadn't been for the advice of some of the senior members of this site, my young veiled may have never recovered from his rocky start. Members of this site even went the extra mile to find somebody with good husbandry experience to...

Does the genetics of the female matter?

So that's a yes? LoL. I'm just trying to learn more ahead of time. My little man hasn't shown his adult colors yet. We've had his normal green, dark green, black, white, yellows, browns, and a very nice teal color so far, but nothing like some of the adult veileds I've seen. I just have seen...

Does the genetics of the female matter?

Hey everybody, I've been looking into purchasing a female veiled to raise and eventually mate with my male, Avi. What I am wondering is if it is worth investing in a "pedigree" bloodline, i.e. FL Chams has female babies from Driskel, who is quite colorful. Forgive me for sounding silly, and...

    Is this normal?

I would assume it's normal. I also got my cham in August and he's around a similar age as yours. My guy started roaming towards the bottom of his cage for a few weeks and would have dark black splotches all over him. When he would climb back up his cage, he would return to his normal green or a...

    HELP! Old Cham w/ issues

If you could order feeders online, I would suggest silkworms or hornworms. Their skin is soft and squishy, like wax worms, slow moving enough that he could catch them just using an open mouth, and have better nutritional qualities than waxies. Get a few into him and if his tongue issue is...

    Excited and wanted to share

My veiled will come to the front of his cage when I open the door and try climbing my arm frequently. He also seems to put on a show hunting his food when I put it in and watch him. At misting time, he perches on a front branch while I give him a few squirts. I have hand fed him 1 or 2 insects a...

    Securing Branches in Reptibreeze

I cut the branches so that they fit snugly against the mesh and then used pushpins to secure them in place. Little rough on the fingers, but the ones I have set up this way are pretty secure.

    Safe indoor live plants

I agree with Jann. Ficus, pothos, and schefflera (also known as dwarf umbrella tree) are all plants that thrive well indoors and can tolerate the constant light and humidity. Hibiscus are awesome too, but need to be rotated fairly frequently. I must be one of the lucky few living in Pennsylvania...

Young cham eyes closed and dehydrated

Well, it's been close to a week and Avi is doing well. He's no longer being force fed, he's been quite actively hunting on his own. Dripper set-up is in place and works well. Elevated lights off top of screen cage and changed from a blue bulb to 40 watt frosted bulb. No signs of dehydration...

Young cham eyes closed and dehydrated

So... yesterday Avi did pretty great with drinking. Not a whole lot of eating. Then, he closed his eyes again and started climbing blindly again. I was optimistic, obviously he had eaten on his own and was drinking to rehydrate himself. But, I was still worried about his eyes being closed. Then...

Young cham eyes closed and dehydrated

I wouldn't have had a problem with PETCO if they would have informed me about what veterinary services they were using. They wouldn't give me much if any information about it, so I found my own vet with chameleon experience and took care of it myself. Ultimately, I didn't care who paid for the...
