What all can my veiled eat?

My veiled chameleon, who's a few months old now, just started showing interest in mealworms. She wouldn't eat them before, but now she can't get enough of them! I've seen her eat 5 today! I was just wondering what else is okay for her to eat other than crickets and mealworms?

What kind of cage should I get?

I have a veiled chameleon that will soon need its adult cage. I was wondering if any of you have suggestions on what kind to get. I heard screen cages are good, but I'm a little worried about keeping the humidity up in them. Do any of you know of any good websites where I can buy really good...

    Desmond is sick :(

Desmond (veiled chameleon) was looking off today, so I took her to the vet. She doesn't know what's wrong with her, but she gave me antibiotics and some soft food to mix and try to force feed her. She's dehydrated, and I'm supposed to try to force feed her water as well. Any tips on things I...

How do I keep the temperature and humidity up in my screened cage?

I recently bought a screen cage for my veiled, but it seems to be difficult to keep the temperature and humidity up in it. I've covered one wall with an acrylic sheet, so only three sides are screened and open now. But I'm still having issues keeping it warm enough in there. Suggestions?

How do I set up my misting system in my screened cage?

I recently moved Desmond (veiled) into her new screened cage! However, I'm not quite sure of the best way to set up my ExoTerra Monsoon misting system with it. I have two nozzles that go on either side of the cage, but they're only set up with suction cups for glass cages. How should I attach...

How do I put the Exo Terra Monsoon RS400 misting system on a timer?

I recently bought the above-mentioned misting system, which conveniently has a cycle button, where it turns on every so many hours for however many seconds. However, my question is, if I put the system on a timer, does anyone know it will turn on to the regular "on" or to the "cycle" mode? If...

I just witnessed Desmond eating a cricket!

It's good to hear that, I've never seen Desmond drink, but now I'm assuming it's just because she doesn't do it in front of me. I was so worried, though, that a couple days ago I handfed her to make her drink! I just held a thin stick in front of her with a droplet of water hanging off the...

I just witnessed Desmond eating a cricket!

I've had Desmond for half a week now, and I just witnessed her eating a cricket! She won't do it when I'm sitting there watching, so I moved further away, and I finally saw it for the first time! It was amazing! She stalked the cricket like a predator, her movements so precise. And then her...

    How often should I mist?

Sorry I should've specified. She's a veiled chameleon. And yes I live in Iowa, so it's pretty dry here right now and I have the heat on in the house. So the humidity is usually lower rather than higher. One thing I noticed today, I'm just using a hand mister for now, and she actually seems to...

How do I keep humidity up in a screened cage?

How should I time my feedings in between the automatic mistings? Should I do it right before, right after, or does it not really matter? I just wouldn't want the crickets to drown or anything, if they got wet. Or does that not happen really...?

    How often should I mist?

I ordered a misting system online and it will be here sometime this week. I was wondering, what should I set it to? There's a setting for frequency of mistings and also for duration of mistings. Suggestions?

How do I keep humidity up in a screened cage?

I just bought a screened cage for my baby veiled, online, and it should be here sometime this week. I was wondering, is it more difficult to keep the humidity up in a screened cage simply because of all the ventilation? And if so, what are some ways to take care of that?

She doesn't seem to have it closed often, but I got her from a pet store so there may be something there that I didn't know about before. I was going to call my vet today anyway to get some more information, so I'll probably ask about that too. Thanks!

Picture Thanks for the warm welcome! Here's the picture I took of her last night. Sorry, I don't know how to rotate it, so it's sideways...! And she's a female veiled chameleon.

Hello all! I just joined today, and I just bought my first chameleon yesterday. I've owned dogs, cats, snakes, hedgehogs, ferrets, geckos, but I've never owned a chameleon before! She's a female, I sexed her at the pet store after researching the species. I named her Desmond. I'm not sure on...
