So today, I left the door of my chams cage open (as I do every day) after feeding and spraying. A few minutes later I walked back into the room and could not find him in his cage. I thought he was just hiding in the pothos, as he usually does, until I heard scratching sounds coming from the...
Hey everyone. I've had my cham for about 5 weeks now and I'm interested in starting to handle him. First, let me say that my intentions are not to have him as a "handle-able" pet like a bearded dragon, but just to get him comfortable with me for when I have to take him out to clean his cage (or...
Discoids will not be able to escpae if the dubias couldn't. Discoids are just as easy to keep and breed too :)
Ordering dubias would be a really lame way to get into a lot of trouble, play it safe :)
More plants is always better :)
as for what else you need, you will need additional supplements. You will need a calcium+d3 (unless you cham is kept outdoors), and a multivitamin supplement.
You should not use a night light. Chams need a drop in temperature overnight and the light will...

Well its starting to get pretty warm here in Tucson, AZ. Im planning on letting my cham outside for an hour or two every day to get that much desired sun :) How will I need to change my supplementation if he is spending about an hour or two in the sun everyday?
Hi there, welcome to the forums. Your baby looks quite healthy :)
Humidity was tricky for me. I ended up using a lot of live plants, a cool-mist humidifier, and a home-made drip system for drinking water.
Just a thought here, but if there isnt a suitable vertical heat gradient in the enclosure, he could be going to the bottom in an attempt to cool down. Make sure That the temp is lower at the bottom of the cage (according to caresheets) so he can cool off if need be.
The easiest thing to do (though it may not be the prettiest) would be to lay down a plastic tarp like painters use under the misters. If you want a more permanent and aesthetically pleasing fix, you could marine varnish your hardwood floor :)
What kind of worms? If you mean meal or super worms, then be sure to use them as no more than 20% of your cham's diet. And its fine to feed in the morning, this allows them to warm up in the afternoon to digest properly.
