is it ok to give your chameleon a pinky mouse

Well, feeling them only every other month or so is probably just about right.

Feeding Snails to Chams (video and general info)

Lifted from Wikipedia, lifted from other sources: All land snails are hermaphrodites, producing both spermatozoa and ova. Most snails can mate[vague] when they are around 1 year old.[6] Prolific breeders, pulmonate land snails inseminate each other in pairs to internally fertilize their...

Feeding Snails to Chams (video and general info)

Thank you for showing this video. This behaviour was, apparently, described by Altevogt and Altevogt (1954), and it is mentioned in a few of my books. But I hadn't seen it yet. (Hope that I will soon, though!) It seems that they like slugs, too, and eat them the same way. I *think* that I...

Is jackson female ready to mate again?

My last one was receptive less than two weeks after birthing. Jackson's normally give two clutches a year. Also, this is one species, where apparently, the female stores the sperm, so re-introduction with male may not always be necessary.

    Snails - anybody?

Jackson's are particularly known to eat snails... but I can't find any. Can somebody hook me up?

is it ok to give your chameleon a pinky mouse

Apparently, one of my Jackson's ate a baby bearded dragon last summer.

    Jackson's - pinkies?

Several sources claim that Jackson's will eat pinkies. I have no doubt that they would if they could. Maybe I just do not have enough experience with pinkies, but the ones that I have seen look bigger than anything that a Jackson might swallow. Can anybody confirm that their Jackson's does...

    The "Hibernation" Experiment

from "All About Chameleons and Anoles" - by Mervin F. Roberts [Take his chameleon data with the knowledge that this book was published in 1981, but for anoles, he should be accurate.] [Anolis carolinensis] natural range is from southeastern Virginia to the Florida Keys and westward to eastern...

    The "Hibernation" Experiment

I am going to revive this thread. I wonder if anybody has anything new to add. I never imagined that creatures from tropical climes would brumate, but I recently acquired a beautiful Argentine B&W Tegu - the behaviour cannot be denied. So I went back and read some of my chameleon books -...

    most unique chameleon

wait, wait, wait... how well did you do on your SATs? You CANNOT have a "most unique chameleon"! A chameleon is either 'unique', or it is not. Uniqueness is not comparative. There could be a most unusual chameleon, a most different chameleon, or even a most special chameleon. "Most unique...

    Wanted: Adult Male Jackson's NYC

I can't believe it. I had just passed the 8-month mark with him. He was doing GREAT! Within 8 hours he deteriorated and died, full-blown sunken-eye syndrome. (If it had not been night-time, I'd have rushed him to the vet.) He was not dehydrated or obviously undernourished. The gravid female that...

    anole in oklahoma

Simply put, obviously, you are correct - I do not disagree, and did not mean to suggest otherwise. At least, for most enclosures, most chameleons, and most anoles. It would be silly for me to argue this without knowing exactly what sort of setup this fellow had. Somebody reported that there...

    ok so....

I do give my chams field plankton. Not exclusively, but wherever possible. That includes local houseflies. My home is pesticide free. The flies here in Borough Park are very fat, a la Jackie Mason's old routine from the 80s. However, it is still pretty easy to breed some flies and have a...
