Without a doubt - that is a male. Very defined bulge.
I notice that you are using dome lights. Please consider changing to a UVB fluorescent fixture such as the Reptisun 10.0 UVB OR Arcadia 12%. The dome/coil UVB lighting provides very little UVB, is harsh on their eyes and realistically...
Extremely thin and sickly looking from the day you got her. This could have been from improper care before you got her, parasites or other health issues which you will likely never know about. I'm so sorry for your loss. :(
It has been a lovely year weather wise. Mild winter with not much snowfall followed by a warm summer with little rainfall. Kinda makes you wonder what punishment lies ahead this winter. lol
Jackson's are notoriously sensitive to over supplementation - I would be curious to know from someone experienced with them myself. I begin supplementing my baby Panthers right away but that may not be advisable with these little ones.
Best of luck with them!
He looks just lovely and healthy. He also looks pretty pale and his colours are washed out which tells me that a shed is just around the corner. I would not be surprised if he sheds within the next couple days. Certainly no cause for concern.
At this age, colour is really no indicator and I have seen many young females look more colourful that their brothers. Based on the tail I see a female. The angle goes up and not in a line towards the belly as is typical in young males. Lifting that tail up, as you are in this pic, can be...
The blue bar in that pic is Norman, my future Ambilobe breeder. He was exactly 3 months in that picture - I hatched him out myself so there is no question. Here he is now at 4 months. In raising this clutch mostly outdoors this year, I have noticed that they are growing faster and colouring...
It absolutely was warm enough since *about* May this year. We certainly did not have any snow in May - LOL. Seasonal temps vary by the year around here but this year things certainly warmed up earlier as we did not have that much snowfall over the winter. Not every day was warm enough at the...
That's a great looking female and the basking temp is a little high for her. Keeping temps this high can increase egg production. I would suggest dropping the basking temp down to 86F. Also, make sure you have a laying bin set up in her enclosure in case she needs to lay.
This^
Unless you are buying an adult chameleon, you will never have a guarantee of their colouration. If you keep your eyes open, sometimes a breeder will let go of a holdback that they decided not to keep. I've seen blue bar Ambilobes produce red bar offspring - and then those offspring...
I agree, I am confident this is a female. She is going to shed in the next day or two as well. She has no hemipenal bulge AND if you look at the underside of her tail as it angles towards her body, it goes up - if it were male, it would slope towards the underside of the belly.
That is a lovely young female - probably around 5 or 6 months old. No bulge, rostral process indicates female and she has that typical orange colouration with a hue of green/blue. She's not yet sexually mature from my assessment and is coloured EXACTLY the way my young Ambilobes are BUT with...
I am 100% confident that is a beautiful little Morticia. She does not have a bulge and her rostral process indicates females as well as her colouration. All signs point to a girl. :) Congrats!
I never limit my gravid females in regards to diet as they need all the nutrition they can get, including a daily dusting of plain calcium, to produce healthy eggs and not leech vitamins and nutrients from their own bodies.
The restrictions on food are done on a regular basis when they are NOT...
