How Do You Get Thermometer To Stick?

I ended up sticking the velcro it came with onto two strong magnets, placing one inside and one outside the cage. Works great so far.

Lighting: UVA Basking VS Ceramic Heat Bulb?

We use the Reptisun 10.0 18" for UVB, and have been using a ceramic heating bulb in lieu of a UVA Basking Bulb. I know most people use just normal incandescent bulbs, but I was wondering, if the light in the room is typically on, besides being in natural light majority of the day, is there a...

    How Old is PJ? (Veiled)

I was wondering if anyone had an estimate as to how old PJ is. We picked him up from a rescue this evening. All they were able to tell us is that he wasn't full grown. He def isn't a baby either! I can upload some better pictures tomorrow, I don't want to disturb him on his first night...

    First Cham Came Home Today!!

We picked PJ up from the rescue this evening, and couldn't be more excited. This is the first arboreal cage he has ever had, as he was kept in a fish tank before he was surrendered. We are planning on upgrading his size this summer. I apologize for the poor lighting in the picture, but his...

How Do You Get Thermometer To Stick?

I am using a combo thermometer/hydrometer to measure temp and humidity in PJs cage, but darn if I can't get that thing to stick to the mesh! Does anybody have any advice or clever ideas? I've tried double sided mounting tape, duct tape, and the sticky stuff it came with.

    Monty's Penthouse Suite!

Try a bird store, in person or online. Bird's Paradise or Bird's Extoic in NJ sell them, and I know they do online orders and shipping. I use it in my parrot's cage. Also, how do people get the thermometer/humidity to stick to the mesh?? Mine keeps falling right off...

    Another Question....

Thanks so much for the advice, I will definitely try it out! Where his cage is located is by the kitchen table, though we don't eat there, it is used for homework. Hubby and I are both getting out Masters. So we thought it would be good, we sit there quietly for a few hours almost everyday...

    Waterfall?

I originally had planned to put a waterfall in my cham cage, but a lot of the people here advocated against it, even though it had a self-contained filter. The thread with that discussion is here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/substarte-question-96649/ Hope it helps!

    New Cage!

We originally were planning on using a glass terrarium for the same reasons, though we decided to purchase a small space heater and plug it in near his cage. Having the temperature outside his area just a bit warmer has really helped maintain the cage. I have read a few articles about...

    Monty's Penthouse Suite!

Thanks for the pictures, they look great and have inspired a few ideas for when I re-vamp our cage next!

    Another Question....

So when we visited PJ at the shelter yesterday, we moved some of the ornaments in his cage around to get a better view of him, as the other cham he came in with had a large growth on his eye. When we got near him, he was obviously not used to handling in the least, and was very aggressive...

    Newbee alert!!!

My sister had bought my niece a cham from a pet store after seeing the movie and lots of begging.....that was the original Pascale. Unfortunately, she had NO idea what she was getting into, and wouldn't listen to my warnings..... So, yeah. PJ lol.

    New Set Up Complete!

So my husband and I decided to invest in a space heater for the room, so that we can keep him in his screened enclosure. I'm just overly worried about humidity in the enclosed tank. So we are back to the Medium-size Repti-Breeze, and I have some large-ish bamboo in the back, as well as a...

How old do is my new baby?

I will be posting a few pictures tomorrow, we are getting a male veiled from a local rescue. They said he is a juvenile, but when I went to see him he was a pretty decent size. Looking forward to some opinions!

    New to the hobby

Yeah, we have decided on no substrate, at least to start out with. We WILL be putting our smaller plants in pots of the coconut shavings with a bit of moss on top to aid humidity, topped with large pebbles, the ones that we use in the bottom of my turtle tank. Planning on just putting...

    Substarte Question?

Ok, the hubby and I had a long discussion, and made two decisions. We are definitely going to remove the substrate and pout our plants in pots, at least in the beginning. We are also going to remove the water fall. Where as his design and what not may have worked, the fact is we ARE...

    New to the hobby

P.S. We are planning on naming our guy PJ, which is short for Pascale Jr. Pascale was the chameleon in the new Disney remake of Repunzel, Tangled. My niece may or may not have thrown a temper tantrum for the name....

    New to the hobby

Hey there, I'm also facing the substrate dilemma. My cage currently has coconut shavings at the bottom, and I am planning on getting a veiled from a local rescue later this week. Glad I'm not the only one!
