Jackson with colored lip and bump on jaw

he should go to the vet - preferably immediately (but not as an emergency). his jaw looks infected and the lower jaw looks misshapen. the window that he is living by - does it have glass in it or just screen? i live in a high humidity area but i still mist my jax - you may want to...

    Not eating very much?

what species? how big? how old? make sure it is not dehydrated. reptiles do not need to eat every day, but they shouldn't be 'skinny' and they should always be hydrated. look for bulging eyeballs.

    tokay gecko

i've been offline due to dance recital practises and bald eagle work for a few days. you people have been busy!:) thanks again for all of the suggestions (minus the nasty responses). we now can't find the tokay - much to our dismay. we have all of the equipment ready to go - one we spot it...

    tokay gecko

thanks for all of the replies. the neighbor is working w/me on this. since we last tried to catch it (came 'this close' of course but it got away) it has moved from it's favorite spot and we don't know where it hides. it was spotted at night thru a frosted glass so of course he couldn't grab...

    Help save a Rescue Jacksons!!

i name my female animals after strong female role modles - 2 are named cleopatra and nefretiti - pretty standard. my kids came up w/names like peanut butter :confused:spunky:confused: and avacado:confused: pm me if you ever want. most people seem to prefer veilds and panthers. i have jax...

    tokay gecko

we have a lost one outside. hides in the hurrican shutter top. must be caught (preferably) or killed since it is an invasive spp. any clues as to how to catch it - lure it out? we've tried pushing a towel thru the opening but it can flatten itself so that we can't dislodge it.

    Help save a Rescue Jacksons!!

i'd forgotten about horn worms - mine love them. i've never used roaches (in fl we kill them w/our foot as a gut reaction) but they should be fine. i suggested slow food just so that she could catch them but sometimes they need a fast mover to spark their interest. as for supplementing -...

    Help save a Rescue Jacksons!!

her colors/patterns look fairly typical. her eye in the pic looks normal. if the compact caused damage then a shower will not fix the issue. i don't know the long term effects of using compacts or how to mitigate damage. hopefully there is some info on this that you can find. 2 1/2 inches...

    New Chameleon Won't Eat

i would suggest that you make sure the temp is indeed in the 70s and not below. they become sluggish about eating if they are too cold. i would mist more frequently than you feel is necessary b/c it is not eating. licking behavior (to me) means that they are very thirsty. it would be great...

    Pygmy chameleons

i don't know about denver (lovely place that it is - christmas was so warm and windy this year) but you might want to check w/julirs. i just saw her pygmes on thursday and they are just adorable (sigh, i already have too many chams tho). she's excellent w/her animals and has an excellent...

    feeding babies

i can't imagine any spp of cham being big enough to consume meal worms. i could be wrong. do you have another food source for the babies right now? fruit flies and dust/pin crix are the common food.

    Jackson temps

they do fine w/lower temps - but my understanding and belief is that they need a good change in temps from day to night. since your day temps are essentially the same as your night temps you will need to make sure they can warm way up. mine definately don't eat well when it is cool until it...

    Reptarium Bottom Ideas

i use the tops of the cheap plastic tubs or rubbermade (the stearlite brand from target, publix etc). we use a lot of tubs (big enough for a kid to take a bath in) so the lids were available.

    Jackson age? Name's Dex

lenght seems like he is not quite an adult - mine are about 12' (and will celebrate their 1rst bday this month). horns look good tho.

    duck tape

do NOT use duct tape or any other type of tape. i had an accident w/it; the humidity caused it to curl and detatch. one of my babies became completely stuck to it. i was afraid it would die - there was no way to remove the tape w/out ripping off the skin. most glue dissolvers are toxic...

i get mine from a diff. co., but still in fl. my jackson's will eat the 3/4 in (actually i had a vial of ff a couple of wks ago and they ate those too) but this latest shipment is 1in. so i expected a few dead but not 100+. my veild use to eat anything - of any size but she prefered the...

    Crickets are dying

did you get the crix from here in fl? i just received a shipment of adults and there were many dead in the box- something i'm not use to seeing. they did warn me that the garage was too hot - causing early death. i keep them next to the cham's cages now

    Species

i would be very interested to see a pic the 2 horned female. i had a group of 10 baby jackson's and ended up w/6 females and 4 males. the funny thing is, i asked for help in sexing the babies, and pretty much it was anyone's guess. i say this b/c at one point i was told all 10 were male -...
