Just got a pair of Oregon red spotted garters (thamnophis sirtalis concinnus). Those of you who've kept thamnophis know how amazing they are and how much personality they have. I've been wanting to get some more garters but been waiting out for the right sp. And found these.
I got this male without seeing the sire which isn't a problem as I don't plan on breeding but was guaranteed ambilobe local (from Craig Wyatt, great guy). I love surprises so I'm excited to see what he will grow into. ATM he's showing at lot of red with tints of blue.
Though I generally don't like boring snakes bloods have a soft spot in my heart just a very beautiful species. I generally don't like man made mutations in animals, some I just can't resist.
These have gotta be one of the most curious snakes I've ever had. These guys are like graders but much larger. Great for someone who doesn't want a boring snakes. Let's hope for babies.
First one is a ambilobe that I'm pretty sure is male but just wanna make sure. Second one is a nosy be that I ordered as a male but seller promised no guarantees on sex and this one has me second guessing myself.
So I got this female as a Nosy Be but I'm just wanting to make sure. Not even sure if there is a way to tell the difference between locales when it comes to females but I though I'd ask.
These guys make great additions to a vivarium. They make great cleaner crews and great feeders for smaller amphibians and lizards. They are very easy to culture.
$20 for 100 + shipping. If you're local I can do $5 for 20

Not as nice as a lot of others enclosures but I have a horrible emagination lol. Let me know what I should add.
Using a bio-active substrate topped off with leaf litter. Through tons of small broken twigs over the leaf litter to help them get around better (female cant grip the leaf litter...
What are you thoughts on this? I live in San Diego and I read there are some invasive jacksons in certain parts out here. I was wondering if you guys think it would be safe to house a pair outdoors year round. Even through the cold seasons?
