I have a feeling a lot of people are going to disagree with me, but i am finding with my chams that the more i hold them, even if they resist, over time makes them more comfortable.
I feel its kinda taboo on this forum to take a chameleon out of its cage when it dosen't want to, but i am...
Sontiger, how do you have all your lights and stuff set up with the rain dome. From what i can tell the thing is about as wide and deep as a large cage. how do you get, for example, your uv light on top of the cage with the raindome?
Edit: just went back to the websiote and read more...
Honestly, i think tboth systems are a good choice, and they almost seem identical to me. the opnly difference really is if you go with the rain dome. It looks like the rain dome from aqua zamp would work with the mistkinf system so i might give it a go if i get tired of the plain old mist lol.
It should come with tubing. I just needed more becuase of the way i had my cage setup. Also im not sure if the screen wedges are necessary. I just like them because it made it easier to cut a hole in the mesh the cage and gave the nozzle a stable fit.
What i did was put two nozzles in the back corner of my cage using the screen wedges. the only things i had left was a third nozzle and the zip drip. i later got a second baby cham and used the third nozzle for his small cage and used the extra screen wedge. still have the zip drip but i...
I bought the ultimate package because i wanted the extra valves and the screen wedges and what not. I dont use the zip drip. not sure what it dose and dont really need it. when the pump stops, there is virtual no leaking from the nozzles
I have a plastic cup i put the crickets in, than I shower the crickets with a little powder and shake the cup a little bit. After that i just toss them into the cage or feeding receptical.
I'll probably end up going. I live up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago so the drive wouldnt be too bad, but i have been going to the reptile show at the dupage county fair grounds for the last couple months and that might be enough for me, especially if im going to be seeing alot of the same...
I do something similar but i use a gatorade bottle. i than cover the whole think with duct tape, because my cham will try and shoot through the plastic. the duct tape is also good at covering up any sharp edges. I than attach it to the side of the cage with velcore and than lead a vine to the...
I completely agree that hand feeding would be the best solution. It worked great with my first cham, but this guy right now is so skiddish he dosent want anything to do with me. Friday im putting him in his new big boy enclosure which will give him alot more places to hide and stuff and allow...
So would cupping him be an ok thing to do on a regular basis when holding/examining him? or do i just hold him like i would my other cham and eventually he will figure out im not trying to hurt him. (this seemed to be the case with my first cham reggie who is about 9 months old now.)
I have a 4-5 month old veiled. I have had him for a little over a month and i noticed something kind of odd. When ever i walk into the room he tries to hide behind some plants. To me... i think this is normal behavior for a young chameleon in a relativly new enviroment. when i take him out of...
One tip i picked up was to hold the food infront of your face (sort of). you want to make sure the cham can see you and the food. becuase he wants to be sure he can strike the food with out being hunted him self. so maybe try lining up the food with your face at first to make him feel more...
