Jackson's don't require much heat above room temperature. My guy does most of his basking under the UVB light as well. The rest of the time he is patrolling for crickets.
A lot of chameleons eat snails in the wilds. The shells are just extra calcium. The problem I have heard of with wild snails and slugs is that they can carry parasites.
I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised. I've had a couple grandis day geckos over the years, and I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to become entrenched in southern Florida.
They are dead simple to sex as long as they aren't hatchlings. The males have large femoral pores, and...
They are in the apple family so you would want to avoid the seeds as the likely have cyanogenic compounds. The flesh of a ripe loquat is so soft it would be hard to feed to crickets though. They tend to rot very easily.
Water softeners work by removing the calcium and magnesium ions in the hard water. They are replaced with sodium ions. When the filter medium is loaded with calcium and magnesium the softener runs a regeneration cycle that flushes an extremely strong brine through the beads to recharge the...
I have to agree with that one. I have never seen a Petsmart with that kind of habitat, and certainly never seen one where they had housed multiple species of reptiles together. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but it would not conform to the standard. I have lived, and shopped Petsmart, on...
The tarsal spurs are a veiled trait. They don't occur on panthers or jacksons. With veileds they are there from the minute they hatch.
A male jacksons should have a significant set of horns by the time he is a salable size. The panthers are the hardest for me to tell. When they are little...
I'm no expert when it comes to Jackson's, but mine does the same thing. His basking area stays just about 80 (with a couple degrees variation), and the lower reaches of his cage are in the mid 70's. He will still sit directly under the light and gape sometimes rather than move to cool down...
