Can anyone tell me what these are?

There is said to be a form of T. sternfeldi from the Rubeho Mountains that does have a pronounced rostral. Doubtful it is sternfeldi just because it is further south then any of the known rudis types.

    RO water

I dont worry so much about the major trace elements it is the stuff like chlorine, pesticide run off, silicates, arsenic, chromium, barium, copper, and lead to name a few. If Im not comfortable drinking the water myself Im surely not going to give it my animals. As with anything its your...

    RO water

Yes they do but since water supplied by a system of pipes allows for leaching of toxic components from the pipes the only truely accurate test would be right from the tap. Carl

    RO water

Is this water that has traveled across a large body of water like the Mozambique Channel? Either way how can you possibly know what supplimenting you need to do without knowing what is or isn't in your water. By starting with pure water you are in control. Carl

There are no nutrients or vitamins provided by water naturally so that shouldn't be a issue. With a proper gut load for your insects you are providing everything needed. Carl

I can tell you from actually visiting the area's that hold acuminatus that it is not a rare species. The species has a small range and is very vunerable to pressures put on the forests. Incroachment by locales for farming is the central issue. The Nguru and Nguu mountains receive no formal...

    Calling all T. werneri keepers

Here is a male I photographed in the Uluguru's. He was found in dense scrub vegetation in the mist of a waterfall. Air temp was 45f at 1800m+ elevation. The mosquito near his eye was not actively feeding. Air temp was to cold for mosquito's to be active. Carl

    Calling all T. werneri keepers

My feelings on a potential captive population in the states is its never going to happen. Just like 99% of the species available it will always just be a few keepers working successfully with this species. As for T. werneri's status in the wild the species faces many challanges. It only...

Waxworm. Pupae Care help!!! Treek loves the flyers!

Normal room humidity should be ok. When removing the moth's from the cup try doing it earlier in the day. The moths are more active in the evening and after dark. The more variety the better! Carl
