Poor Rango was confused as to why I was poking the tongs at him… a roach had somehow escaped his bowl as I was feeding him and decided to crawl onto his face 😂 right in his blind spot, too!
Good news: Rango is eating! He’s been willingly walking to his cup as I offer it to him and even placing his little foot on the rim of it. ❤️
A brief handling session took place today because he couldn’t be in the cage while I removed his fake moss vines (those apparently aren’t good for him)…...
As I’ve excitedly been posting, Rango is now in a new, very large and improved cage (XL reptibreeze//2x2x4).
I already knew it was coming… but Rango is not eating. In an attempt to not stress him as he adjusts, I have been setting a bowl of mixed bugs (roaches & 1–2 superworms as they cannot...
Hey everyone,
Rango’s new cage is finally done!! Here is its current setup. Keep in mind, I’m going to add/fix the following:
- Shower curtain (hold in humidity)
- Add stand on bottom
- Add tray on bottom to collect water
- Purchase chameleon-friendly (potted) plants to add on the bottom...
Hey, Cham fam!
Unfortunately, I have to travel out to the screen repair shop tomorrow morning in order to disassemble my own cage. The man who was meant to be repairing it was not confident in his ability to reassemble the cage after repairing it, so it turns out… he never even started it...
Hey everyone!
I am rearranging my bedroom to make room for my veiled’s new cage. Unfortunately, this meant I had to handle Rango as I didn’t want him to be in his tank while I moved it.
Anyway… every time I handle him, he leaves tiny scratches that get incredibly irritated within minutes. Is...
Hey, everyone!
Rango’s new cage has been dropped off as a screen repair shop, due to the condition of the cage. It should be ready in a day or two!
Anyway… Because of such a major environmental change, I’m worried that Rango may not be able to climb as well or that he may fall because of the...
As some of you may know, Rango is in a snake tank as a temporary home (yikes, I know 😅). I was planning on building one from scratch, but honestly… it seemed like a lot of work! Planning alone was very complicated.
As I was purchasing Dubias today and making small talk with the cashier, she...
One thing I love about Rango is how much he stands out when compared to my VERY pink bedroom! Here’s some quick pictures from a brief handling session today (I cleaned/organized his tank) 💚
(If his casque looks weird, it’s just the angle 😅 also, the last one is my fav!)
Rango has now experienced a full day in his new T5 lighting, and I have noticed immediately that he is more active during the daytime.
Also— check out his casque! I snapped a few pictures before his feeding session this morning 💚
(He’s puffy because he was adjusting to the light turning on 😅...
For as long as I’ve had him, Rango’s tongue has been a light pink (like bubblegum almost). I’ve seen that other veiled chameleons can have purple or yellow tongues, which is… actually pretty cool to me.
But as I was feeding Rango this morning, I saw the tip of his tongue was a light yellow...
From what I’ve gathered… I believe Rango is maybe 5-6 months old (4 when I got him maybe 2 months ago), but my poor veiled has MBD. ☹️
Each bug is coated in calcium powder unless it’s time for Reptivite, which is about twice a month.
I’m aware that adult chams do not find food in the wild...
I decided to spend a bit of extra money on hornworms for Rango. However, his reaction wasn’t a pleasant one.
He immediately puffed up when introduced to the worm, and held his hand up to his face, entering karate (defense) mode. He even shrunk away from the worm, even though I wasn’t moving it...
I’ve been attempting to introduce dubia roaches into my veiled’s diet for maybe a day now. I avoided them because… well… they’re roaches, but I’ve also realized that they’re important for his diet, so I set aside that fear.
Rango ate one roach and a hornworm treat before calling it a day...
I’ve been a bit worried about Rango lately. I think his turrets are beginning to look a bit… sunken? I’m aware this means he may be dehydrated.
He is hand-misted twice a day, before and after his lights turn off. Of course I haven’t personally witnessed his drinking, but apparently this isn’t...
As the months pass, I love watching my boy grow and explore. One of the major differences I’ve noticed is his appearance overall.
These are two amazing pictures of Rango. Please excuse the tank setup, it’s currently a WIP and he will be receiving a proper tank very soon.
The first picture is...
Rango is a growing boy. He’s slowly developing (or finishing, I should say) his big boy patterns!
My absolute favorite are his black face markings, which I find super adorable! Rango has just finished shedding his face, so they’re especially dark. ❤️
(Second pic is better, but I have no clue...
So, I’ve been thinking lately… maybe it’s time that I start to keep crickets instead of traveling half an hour every time I need to buy some. (I live in the Midwest, so it’s hard to get shipments here! Most bugs would die in the process ☹️)
For a cricket enclosure, could I keep them in some...
