Words of wisdom for the day.
Have read some of the most trifling, obnoxious and uneducated things today. Here and elsewhere. Why ask for help if you can't take advice? I just needed to get that out. Thanks.
That's all. Carry on.
Edit: sorry venting I should have just kept that to
myself
How big of a problem is it? How much should I worry about it? He really just started doing it after he got out free ranging. Now when I come by he climbs all over the door.
I noticed he is missing a toe nail. I don't know how long ago, he may have been always missing it for all in know. I...
Dubia are obvious, and I will raise them if my guy decides whether he likes them. :-)
Crickets I will NOT raise, because they are just too noisy and they smell bad and they are so cheap and readily available.
But the blue bottle flies have been a blast. I will always have those. I think I'll...
It's gross today. My house is 66 degrees. It's taking my chameleon an awful long time to get moving today. He's not asleep, just cold, dark and in his sleeping spot, tail curled and not getting up and moving.
Yesterday he had a great day, up and active, eating well, etc.
Should I be worried...
I'm trying to allow more freedom and exploration, but do it safely. I've been surfing around looking at people's free range setups.
One idea I found interesting someone had used a rope to connect different free range "islands" so his chameleon could kind of cruise around on some aerial...
Male - Ambilobe Panther - 6 months - I have had him 2.5 months now
Handled - as little as possible. Had a Respiratory Infection a few weeks after acquisition - had to do 4 shots of Fortaz, trip to the vet, held him maybe 2-3 times
Feeding - crickets, dubia, super worms and hornworms. I use...
So, I'm adding on to my house, and there is a breezeway connecting my bedroom to the rest of the existing structure. I'm
thinking on converting half the breezeway into a chameleon enclosure, with a casement window access to an outdoor cage. This way he could have indoor/outdoor access whenever...
So lil' man shed again yesterday. first off, he reminds me of a wet dog when he sheds. It cracks me up. I honestly really look forward to it even though it drives him nuts. He's hilarious. I particularly like when he uses his back foot to scratch himself.
And he's a whole new world of red...
Ok, so roaches have doubled in price around here. I'm in for keeping a colony. I'd love any advice on where to order and what to get. Looking at the Dubideli just because it's the first place I found that has them in stock and available.
Would be happy to support forum members or sponsors if...
So.... I tried this great trick and it worked like a charm. I heated play sand in trays in my oven @ 400 degrees. I built a plywood mold to create the slope I wanted in my drainage tray. I lined the tray with foil, poured the hot sand onto the tray and weighted the drain spot with a full mason...
How close does a UVB Lamp have to be to be effective?? Are there ways to extant that distance?
I have a very large ficus tree. I'd like to set it up as an occasional free range. I have some concerns about lighting as it's way over 10 feet tall.
I have a recessed light directly above it, but...
my 6 month old panther is getting ceftazidime, and I am being instructed to inject it subcutaneously every 3 days. It is a treatment for a respiratory infection. Everybody's posts are showing IM in the legs...
Should I be concerned?
So first off, in my case, we are talking about a 6 month old male panther chameleon.
I tried the standard incandescent household bulb, in 60w and 100w and ran about 6 thermometers. I could get a very small usable area of space within my upper temperature range. He constantly hung out directly...
The mist king is on it's way. But truly it would have to run near constantly in our wood stove fueled house to keep things where they should be.
Thinking of piping in a humidifier through the floor. Thoughts? Fogger or Home Depot humidifier?
