When using real perches, I know you need to disinfect them one way or another. But does anyone put a protective layer on them or are they good to go after they've been treated?

So I just finished my DIY cham cage, just waiting for the mist king. I still have install the branches which Ill connect to the pvc on all sides. I think I need to start building a bigger cage already...
