    Hand held Mister

I bought this "Pressurized Plant Water Mister Sprayer - 1 Liter" on amazon for only $8.79 and it's perfect! Has a very fine mist, that does not seem to irritate Spike as much as the previous one I used. I thought it was worth sharing the info!

Curious Animals take on high tech gadgets

I have MSN as my internet browser. There is a headline on there this morning with the above mentioned title, showing a male veiled chameleon being taunted by a cell phone. Who would do this? I mean really, who would purposely taunt or scare there pet? Makes me mad!!! I hope he got a good...

A chameleon that does not like water?

So I find it very interesting in reading posts about how most chameleons like showers, mistings and hang out at the dripper. I have never seen Spike (veiled) drink one drop of water. I'm sure he does since his white blob is white and not yellow. He hates it when I mist his cage too! What's...

UVB light for black fabric screen enclosure

Greetings. It's just about time to change my UVB light. I bought a 10 UVB as that was recommended to me because of the type of enclosure I have. (black pvc pipe, black fabric zippered screen). But I've also heard I should be using the 5.0 UVB. Since It's almost been 6 months, and I need to...

Looking for Dubia's in NW Oregon/Wash

Anyone sell Dubia's in Oregon or Northwest Washington? Our cold temps (20's) are making it hard for me to get them shipped without paying an arm and a leg :) Thanks!

    Silks chowing down dandilion leaves

So FYI the silkworms I have are chowing down the dandilion leaves. I heard you can use them in a pinch but they seem to love them! I ordered 200 silks for my little guy. Way too many, but the first order of 100, over half died, so I went overboard. So far only one dead silkworm in a week...

    Spike sleeps by the fogger

I've got a fogger hose coming into the back of his enclosesure (you can see it just above and behind him) and have noticed that most of the time he finds a place to sleep where he's protected by a leaf, but the fog runs over him while he sleeps. Smart fella! :D

At what age will a veiled start eating plants

Just curious about when a veiled chameleon will start to eat on plants. I was thinking if getting Spike (2 mo) a lovely flowering indoor hibiscus bush for his enclosure - but will wait if he would'nt start munching on it yet... He's not being spoiled at all! ;)

    Handling your chameleon

O.k. so from what I have read, most chameleons do not like to be held :( Of course I am one of the optimistic gals that hopes her cham will gladly walk right on my finger and be content sitting there looking handsome for a few minutes - which is NOT the case. We've had Spike (veiled) for 3...

How do you keep your silks at the right temp?

Well - first night and I blew it! Knowing that my house was going to be around 60 during the night, I thought I would put the silkworms that I just got in the mail yesterday on top of my crested's night light dome cover. I didn't put it directly over the bulb part, but any event this morning...

Question - just got the worms - now what?

O.k. peeps - Spike's 100 small silkworms and 150 small phoenix worms just arrived. I have yet to find on here how many of those I should feed my 2 mo old veiled cham. I would like to feed him these exclusively or mainly for the next few days while they are tiny and I won't waste so many. Is...

    Phoenix worms

I'm geting ready to place an order for some silkworms for my 2 mo old veiled cham - Spike and it was suggested that I order Phoenix worms as well to meet the min order. So my question is are phoenix worms good for a cham or not so good like mealworms. Right now Spike is eating about 20 insects...

How important is removing left over crickets?

How important is it to make sure any crickets that have not been eaten, be found and removed? The crickets are 1/4" - tiny and they are going to be almost impossible to find. Besides the stress it will cause my little guy digging around in his enclosure does not seem worth it, unless those...

    Do you dust every insect?

Do you dust every insect your about to feed your cham? Not sure if all are supposed to be dusted or just a few? I'm getting my baby veiled tomorrow :D He's about 2 mo's old. I know to do the d3 and vit 2 x per month - but again all the insects that day or just a couple-few? Thanks everybody!

Holy cow! How do they make it in the wild!

I'm new and in reading all these threads to make sure I am set up right and do the right thing, it sounds almost impossible for a chameleon to make it in the wild! Between supplements, lighting, heat, water, humidity - YIKES! I know the point is to mimic the wild as much as reasonably possible...

Purchasing a baby - what age is best?

So, I'm all set up and ready to buy my first veiled chameleon. There are several breeders out there and the babies really range in ages. I found some on the classified ad's here. One breeder has some that are 1 month old and some that are 1.75 months old. I also found some that are 3.5...

    Home sweet home

I think it turned out great! I hope our new baby likes his new home! :) There is a drip coming in from the top and a fogger hose comes in from the back. Lights are set for 8 to 8. Loaded with plants so hopefully he won't want to hang out on the bottom - no room. One thing left to add. I...

What to do, what to do

Hello - I am new here and have yet to purchase a chameleon. While shopping in Petco (I know...) for crickets for our crested gecko I couldn't help but be drawn to the veiled chameleons. They have 2 right now -one they are guessing is 4 months and the smaller male who caught my eye is thought...
