Managing a bioactive enclosure and the pooping flower

Not what you asked about (sorry) but the pooped on plant is not an orchid, it is a Guzmania bromeliad.

Is this normal young panther chameleon behavior?

Thanks. All you need is a solid base, but simply a couple of stable flower pots will do. You can also make it more vertical. She actually enjoys climbing up that hanging plant which is sturdy enough to hold her. There are two more horizontal bars above it but I am always very watchful when she...

Is this normal young panther chameleon behavior?

Not sure if this is a good example but I noticed a nice window sill in your first photo. My girl loves to look out of the window from her monkey bars which are branches connected together with plastic covered wire just like she has inside her enclosure, planted securely inside the flower pots.

    Repashy Calcium Plus vs LoD

I need to get a new multivitamin+D3 supplement for my 1.5-year-old female Panther chameleon. She has been receiving Reptivite D3 approximately every two weeks (besides plain calcium with each feeding) which is now over a year old, and I'm thinking of switching to Repashy. She recently had an...

Panther Chameleon stays brown mostly, help please advise.

Thank you for saying this. I noticed with my girl that she prefers to hang around open areas and only likes to hide a little when she goes to sleep, mainly from the sprinklers. Some of the denser areas of the enclosure are avoided completely, unless there's something interesting hiding in the...

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

Update: I’m not sure what happened but the edema seems to have mostly resolved itself. My chameleon did not lay eggs, although her belly does seem a bit smaller to me now. The way she looked a while back really made me believe she was gravid. Perhaps she was swollen overall and whatever was...

    Stuck shed/necrosis?

Not to contradict what you’re saying but Bill Strand advises moistened cotton swab and updates his current understanding of humidity in shedding https://chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-medical-shedding/

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

For the dry part, I alernate between a commercial cricket food mix and a homemade mix of wheat bran+oats and a mix of spirulina+nutritional yeast+pollen. They always get a small variety of fresh vegetables such as sweet potato or carrot, red pepper, cucumber or zucchini, dandelion leaves, and...

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

I did supplement with bee pollen but stopped in the spring after consulting the breeder. I still give a little bit of it to the feeders but no longer on them when feeding her.

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

So regarding the supplementation it’s the other way round, as I said, I added a few days in between: as per the breeder’s advice, instead of every 14 days, I started giving it every 18 days. The advice was given to me exactly for the reason you mention, to prevent or counteract possible...

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

Thank you. She actually has a much wider palette of colors and patterns, as I’m sure you can imagine. She also has a very chill and sweet personality. She has a layer of bioactive substrate in her indoor enclosure and a laying bin in her outdoor one. I hope everything goes well and she knows...

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

Thank you, I am familiar with Petr Nečas’ page and had read this article as I looked for information online first. That’s actually why I came here to ask if she looked gravid to someone experienced because i could not tell. I’m more and more leaning toward that she is. I guess I’ll just wait and...

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

The only significant change in the feeding that might be coinciding with the formation of the edema is that about three weeks ago I started feeding her dubias that were much larger in size than she was getting previously which was last winter. I try to rotate different feeders to provide variety...

    Gravidity-associated gular edema?

About a week ago my 1.5 year old female panther chameleon developed gular edema. She has never laid eggs so far and while I cannot see distinct egg shapes in there, her belly does look fuller to me than before. She is my first chameleon and I’m unsure of the visual signs of gravidity. She...
