    Kinyongia boehmei 2018 Import

Yes, update: There were eight eggs in this clutch. Their appearance (the "stretch" marks) a few weeks before hatching suggested the incubation medium was had too much moisture, and the eggs were swelling to fast, as Jeremy noted. Someone posted on FB that they had experienced the exact same...

Well, looks like I've gotten lucky. First of these K. boehmei eggs hatched today. Several more sweating. Really amazing to see this process. Thanks for the advice, everyone. [video link invalid]

    Missing spines?

Sorry if I missed this point, but was this cham wild caught import or captive bred? If WC the spines could well have been broken off in the wild or during capture or shipment. If CB, The missing spines could be genetic or due to some mishap with the original breeder. In this case can you ask the...

    Kinyongia boehmei 2018 Import

Thank you Jeremy. I does look like the eggs are bursting. But IDK as this is my first time incubating eggs. I'll lower humidity. It may be too late. We'll see what happens. I have to say, the conditions in the incubation tub have been damp but not wet. The thought of going dryer (than just...

    Kinyongia boehmei 2018 Import

It's been just about six months since this clutch of K. boehmei eggs were laid. I checked them just now and see this change: striations in the eggs shells. Is this normal? Sign of hatching immanent or going to burst due to too much moisture? Quick opinions appreciated!

Great thread. Does anyone have any updates on success with this species? Continued survival, new eggs laid, any eggs hatched, etc?? Thanks!

New Humidifier to test the "Naturalistic Approach"

Do you have a link to this model? Also is it top fill, or do you have to disconnect the hose and then remove and refill the reservoir from the bottom? I currently use a top fill model which is great because I don't have to disassemble the unit to refill.

    Calumma nasutum F1 Newly Hatched

Joe, at this point I think the two survivors are both female. In personal communication with someone who had eggs hatch - his were all female. We might be seeing a trend? (granted very small sample size). If so, could this could be temperature related? If so , do cooler temps tend to produce...

Picked up a pair of nice healthy T. hoehnelii imports

Yep. As far as the health of the chams go, looks like source 'breeder facility' of yours does a pretty fair job.

Picked up a pair of nice healthy T. hoehnelii imports

You got you some good'uns. As Kenyan imports, do you know if these are from one of the outdoor farm breeding facilities?

    Calumma nasutum F1 Newly Hatched

I be I believe gestation is around three months. If any eggs hatch I’ll have a good idea of gestation time.

    Calumma nasutum F1 Newly Hatched

Thanks for asking. There are two surviving now. One lodged itself in the tiniest of gaps between the viv door hinge and a viv wall I installed and got stuck and perished. I couldn't get it out. Another just vanished. I have updated my husbandry to include fog at night to keep 100% humidity. This...
