I remember hearing the cover was Magellan who, like most of the animals in that book, was owned by Todd Risley.

I read it three days ago and don't remember it now. Lol Speaking of cool, old books....anyone still have Masters of Disguise kicking around? Still a fantastic book for the photos and I've seen it really cheap recently.

Unfortunately, there are already a couple of BOI threads about him. I also have two friends who each purchased large groups of imports from him and won't again. I really feel for you guys. :(

That is a great point and one I didn't think to mention but I am with you 100%. I've purchased animals from the folks selling these new species before. A couple of them have sent us wc panthers that were so unhealthy they didn't make it through the first day (or even several hours with us)...

Good or bad, the high prices are to be expected but I don't think they'll remain as high as they currently are indefinitely. They're still wild-caught chameleons from Madagascar that are just as much risk as and go through the same capture-hold-transport-hold-transport-etc. routine as the 4...

Has anybody heard of any importers offering cristifer yet?

Very cool! Congratulations and best of luck with the babies!

I would agree. I haven't looked at it in years and I'm not sure what it could offer besides locality information and John Anniss' theories about hypervitaminosis A. If I remember correctly, he did go several generations deep with them, though.

He's a he; no need to change his name. :)

Craig, if you want that article still, shoot me a pm.

Congrats, Luis! They look great! Very, very cool to see these available again.

Beautiful animals! Thanks for sharing.

Very cool you were able to pick up so many! Best of luck with all of them and can't wait to see those pics!

Where's the malthe pics???

Wow. It finally happened. Did any other Calumma or Furcifer species also come in?

I've had a brief back and forth by pm with Steve and something has come to my attention that I must address. I'm a busy guy these days and I often don't post complete thoughts because I assume everyone is on the same page and in this case, I wrongly thought that it wasn't necessary to...

Furcifer rhinoceratus is another small species from Madagascar that was suspended from trade in 1995. Like Furcifer minor, breeding females normally don't live more than two years. I don't know if the eggs require a controlled diapause to hatch. I don't know why so many females don't lay...

Really? Can't I just say I give up? Not sure where you could've thought that I believe humans are above nature although doing whatever we want in order to gain the most power, admiration, envy, respect, etc. of others without giving the slightest care about the long-term consequences is...

Yeah, that's definitely a stretch of justification I can't make. Kind of like, "They'll look prettier going extinct in my living room than in the wild." But, I'm coming to realize more and more it's just human nature and no amount of moral-brow beating is going to change that. ESPECIALLY in...

For clarification, I posted about the smuggled F. minor in 2007 to show exactly how EASY it would be to add smuggled animals into a breeding program there. There is a reason these animals are still available as captive bred in Europe and it's because there has always been access to illegal...
