...to off the chart sodium and chloride levels (the only thing I can attribute this to is bad water, I've switched to bottled spring & distilled water)... He is now mostly hydrated and he is getting water on his own now, but his eyes stay mostly closed most of the time. Im wondering if this is...

Has anyone here had any experience with a machine that distills water? They sell them on amazon

Interesting how a simple question concerning H2O distilled can lead to all that information. Very informative and greatly appreciated. So--- what was the original distilled water needed for? thanks! (y)

    Exotic plants safe??

Bill is spot on. Carnivores also need distilled/rain/ro water and low nutrient substrate(which most plants won’t live in). So tap/bottled/mineral water will kill the plants. Many, like fly traps, also appreciate sitting in a bog and don’t tolerate drying out at all. All of these things would...

...that sits in your sink. Idea was to hook up to sink and turn on. Easy, right? Well after (like above experience) 1/2 gallon of distilled water took 6 hours to produce and wasted 6 hours of water down the drain too. Lucky for me the product was cheap, and the plastic filter broke after a few...

    White worms on egg

...the container, the one with these worms is the top left one. They've been incubating since January and I've never noticed anything on them until today. I'm storing them in a closet away from plants and soil, adding distilled water in the perlite every 2 weeks or when the substrate is getting...

    Veiled Chameleon-White Spots

I will start to get some distilled water! My fogger is no longer in my enclosure. It’s now in a corner of my room so I’m hoping I can still use tap water their and use distilled in the enclosure? Also my basking light fixture has a dim mode so this morning I was trying to find a good temp. My...

Thinking of upgrading enclosure for freddy

The white residue on the cage is from using water with minerals in it (tap water). You will see it on your new cage as well unless you switch to RO or distilled water.

    Distilled water $1.89/ gallon!!

Parsons like a LOT of water. I imagine that if you went through that much distilled it would eventually be worth it, or you could distill your own water.

Yes it is a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter. Cheap yet priceless.

    Advice on baby veiled

Correct, part of the reason for distilled water. It won't leave a build up of residue making it harder to clean. When cleaning in normally either use vinegar and water, or dish soap, depending on what I'm cleaning. I picked up a dripper for when I have to run vinegar water through the pump...

    Twiggy the rescue

Sorry, but I do have another question. We have very hard water here. So because of that, I decided to use distilled water in the misting system to avoid a total white cage within a day or two. I do mix it with a gallon of Poland Spring water. It is a 10m liter holding tank. I use a gallon of...

    Little black bugs everywhere

Easier even than fly traps IMO. They don’t need dormancy and seem a little less sensitive to changes. My sundews probably got a little bigger than my hand, but started out pretty small(they grow fast under right conditions).

    Weird eye problem

Can you make a thread about this. I would like to look into why this is happening. With your 6% bulb raised that far she will be getting minimal UVB not the levels she needs. You will end up dealing with MBD possibilities due to not getting appropriate UVB levels. A 6% needs a measured distance...

Country wide shortage of distilled water???

I run reef aquariums so I've used a number of 'distillers' over the years. Look for a RO (Reverse Osmosis) system, or an RO/DI (Reverse Osmosis/De-Ionizing) system. You'll save a ton in the long run if you can set one up. A good option for the buck is the RO Buddy system, they're affordable and...

Foggers, a Tool or a Danger?

Which water did you use? Even when I used RO the digger would get nasty. I had to use distilled to really slow it down.

    Twiggy the rescue

That is fine... We use water that is not tap water for the equipment. If we didn't we would ruin the automated misters and foggers do to the mineral build up most tap water leaves behind.
