    Having trouble using his tongue

I will definitely be looking into that cage! Wanted to start off w/ the one I have now cause I thought he would come in smaller, but I definitely will be upgrading. For the basking, I was told to get the Fluckers dimmer, would that help w/ bringing it down? Rubber fig will be taken out! Don’t...

A few questions from a new veiled chameleon owner

...other areas in the cage. Sadly temp guns are useless, as they measure surface temp while we need to measure air temp You’ll use distilled water if possible, it produces much less build up on misting nozzles and is perfectly safe for chameleons At minimum, you’ll mist around both lights on...

    Rain maker water

The main consideration I made when using a mist system is that tap or bottled / mineral water will accumulate all the minerals on the nozzle. Eventually it will reduce the spray. I don't think it's a rapid process but one to be aware of none the less. I also have a drip system you can prob get...

Fungus gnat problem? Wanted to share this

...lights; even Mellers does not destroy and they bloom continuously. (Of course a veiled could eat it). I'll take a pic tonight of some covered in bugs and send. If you are misting with distilled water it's plenty acidic. Any springtime that venture up there will also be eaten and help the plant.

    Having trouble using his tongue

...Reptifogger going on until 7:30am. (All water being treated w/ ZooMed Reptisafe water conditioner. Just a tip, if you RO water or distilled water you do not need to use the Reptisafe water conditioner. Your light and misting schedule looks fantastic too btw :). The fog machine you may not...

    Mist King starter system question?

...thought of what kind of water you’ll be using. Most tap waters contain minerals which will eventually clog up the system. Some use distilled water and some use reverse osmosis. For both you can buy it or make your own, I use this...

    Boo's weird eye; anything I can/should do?

...been opening the eye more lately, but it's like a squint. Here are pics from tonight: I also tried using a cotton swab I dipped in distilled water to dab at the eye thinking maybe it really is just something stuck there, but nothing came out/off and the swab has no discoloration, so...

Country wide shortage of distilled water???

It’s been hit or miss here for a year or more. My daughter went looking for some for me and went to 5 different stores including Walmart ans target, none. If target had some, the price went up from 89 cents a gallon to 2.49 now! I gave up and bought a water distiller. We’ll see how well it...

    I need help

...if it is treated with a water conditioner first, but I would avoid it if you can. I personally use and recommend reverse osmosis/ distilled water, especially if you get an automated misting system (like Mist King or CliMist). In fact, most people only use ro/di water the fogger (random blue...

    Chameleon lethargic and eyes closed

...found on the bottom of cage and cold. We had recently moved and thought it was due to an AC vent blowing. Weve changed bulbs, distilled water, and maintained heat. He hasn’t eaten in over a month by himself (I manually feed and water him). Color is great. Temperature is great. He’s just...

    Miat king nozzle replacement

I'm not using distilled or RO... just tap water and I'm sure that's why they clog. I am thinking that mist king uses a dab of glue to make these not user serviceable because those nozels are available from elsewhere and they are just 1/8in npt threads into a push to connect fitting.

Fogging as a Chameleon Hydration Method

...note, has anyone got a good cleaning method for the fogger that doesnt produce the dreaded pink slime? I guess you could use 100% distilled water and light proof reservoirs (aka "misters" do not get pink bacteria). Its currently the only thing holding me back. Run a fogger in the winter...

Question regarding distilled/RO water and misting system. (Distilled not bad for arboreal reptiles?)

Why are misters okay, but not hand sprayers? Just curious. Would distilled counter over(?)-mineralization, as in over dusting?

    Advice on baby veiled

As for distilled water won't keep bacteria from growing. It will keep water stains from forming like scale lime calcium.

Question regarding distilled/RO water and misting system. (Distilled not bad for arboreal reptiles?)

Distilled water is fine to use in misters and foggers but should not be used in hand sprayers or drippers because it is deionized and can leach minerals. Misting and fogging introduces ions. I have now gone to using a half distilled half RO mix in my misting system to reduce the cost. I have no...
