    Gular Edema, No more hornworms

Hello, First off, my male Jackson’s chameleon’s gular edema has gone down significantly since I have gotten him. I did not supplement for the first week, and gradually got him on the normal Jackson’s sup schedule, calcium no d3 twice a week, and a repashy lo-d once a month. This shows what...

    Egg laying question

...is also the time we wrapped the lower part of her free range (the planter) to give her privacy. Then prior to the egg laying she gets a gular edema (mostly 5 days before) and she loses appetite. The thing I can only say what I’ve noticed and is different in your situation, she never digs at...

Meet the real Sonny, the Trioceros Jacksonii Xantholophus

Does Sonny have a little gular edema starting there or is it because he’s eating a large roach?

    Hemipenis Prolapse and Amputation

Donnie is doing great, but he picked up a little gular edema, which I think is from being outside nearly all summer. I dropped D3 all together, and dropped MV to 1x per month. So either still too much MV, or I need to greatly scale back the calcium (not that I dust that heavily). Gotta keep...

    Gular Edema, No more hornworms

That’s interesting. What could you feed insects that can cause gular edema in your Cham?

    Gular Edema, No more hornworms

With the gular edema did he have it when you got him? How long have you had him? Jackson's are notorious for getting edema with over supplementation. I know you said you use a multivitamin once a month but do you know the previous supplement schedule?

    Gular Edema, No more hornworms

He already had the gular edema when I got him. I’ve had him for a few months, and did not supplement for the first week or two I owned him. I then gradually got him on a supplement schedule that I like to follow (Arcadia earthpro-A twice a week, and repashy Lo-D once a month). Previous owner’s...

    Egg laying question

Thank you so much for your time and information. I do happen to have some leaf litter left over from when I did a bioactive enclosure for my gecko. I’ll put some in now. So long as you don’t think it’s been too long I’ll keep waiting for her to do things on her own.

    Is he chubby?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to all my info! What would you recommend for a free range? I’m very paranoid about him falling. I worry about EVERYTHING 😅. We don’t have trees here really that don’t have sap.

    Is he chubby?

...for it to be even better. I’m sure @Beman already advised you on a good way to help your guy lose a bit of weight. I don’t know if his gular edema could be related to him being a bit chubby, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. Unlike us, chameleons are more sensitive to being overweight...

Sharp eye, luckily it was only due his big meal and the perspective of the picture. Still thanks for asking 👌🏻👏🏻

    Gular Edema, No more hornworms

Normally when we have people pull supplements for Gular edema in chameleons we have them pull the multivitamin until the edema is completely gone. Continue giving calcium with no D3. At that point start feeding your feeder insects foods that are high and beta carotinoids such as acorn squash...

    Is This Edema?

She said she doesn't think it's edema, she thinks it's his gular. I was just wanting to make sure it was normal

    Gular Edema, No more hornworms

Most store-bought bug recipes, eg bug burger/superload, contain d3 and preformed A. More than once a keeper has unknowingly been giving their Cham extra vitamins via the commercial gutload they feed their bugs. It’s worthwhile considering.

harmful white spots from uvb exposure?

...heating is the greater danger. Don't use mealworms use supers. If you use Repashy Bug burger don't use the supplements it will cause gular edema in montanes, too much of a good thing. There is more but I am short on time. The only light areas I'm seeing look like stuck shed. What am I...

    Gular Edema, No more hornworms

...I still do make sure he has a variety of bugs to eat though. So you only give calcium no D3 twice a week? Is it because your guy had gular edema? I give it every feeding except once a month when he gets his reptivite with D3. My guy only eats every other day so he gets calcium no D3 4 times a...

    Twiggy the rescue

I haven’t read everything and I’m bit short in time. However, my girl laid now for third time and 2-3 weeks prior to the laying she gets gular edema and after laying it disappears within a week. For now I she gets close to laying. She still looks pretty big in the pictures, normally they should...

Stumped the vet -- anyone ever seen this?

...lump on her casque. Only one, hasn’t grown or shrunk at all, even with taking her off synthetic supplements (sunlight and calcium only, treating gular edema). I’ve looked, and she has no other lumps, no other issues, just a little bump. I’ll be curious to see if we find a reason for these here.
