Thank you, I was actually wondering how to transport him with as little stress as possible. Yes the vet is a reptile vet.

    Vet over video call?

Vet is suggesting we bring her home today and bring her back to the clinic on Friday. Other option is they can keep her there but don't recommend it. Do you guys think that's the best idea? It's about a 20 min drive each way and I don't think she loves being transported

    Vet over video call?

How cold is it where you live? Unless it is cold like lower then 50 I would not use the hot water bottle. So they are going to keep her until the surgery or provide after care? It sounds like they do know reptiles. But like you said this is a risky surgery. Either way she needs to be taken...

    Young Veiled Going Downhill

I unfortunately didn't get to see Dr. Greek himself, but one of his office colleagues. They reviewed what was done by the previous vet, did a physical exam, gave her a subcutaneous fluids injection and then said to just wait it out. They indicated it was possible that the Panacur and other...

    Vet over video call?

Thanks. Yes we have a box with a stick for transport and we put a hot water bottle in (wrapped around soft fabric) so she stays warm during transport. We've transported her like that before and she seems ok. Vet we spoke to said she's been working with exotics for over 25 years and did the...

    Swollen back legs

Hi! This vet is an exotic vet in my area with experience with chameleons. I made sure to check that they knew what they were doing before going in. Bazel's urates are purely white and appear quite normal. The vet said that since he's so young they don't suspect gout, and he doesn't seem to be in...

Carpet Chameleon (Furcifer Lateralis) Advice on temporay setup & questions about future care

Welcome James to the forum! There's a great community here for support. I can tell you that the hardest part of keeping chams is worrying and over doing things. Set up has a lot of plants to give him the privacy they like. Alot of great advice with with great people here. Your dude is from...

Help! Baby panther chameleon seems sick

Thank you...! I realized I have some more questions already, it's about the vet visit. I have no idea how to transport him there safely. I'd be grateful for any advice in this area, I have tried to google it but I didn't find any useful tips how to get one's chameleon _to_ the vet. What kind of...

URI Emergency - can't get antibiotics

Thank you! Went to my old vet in their emergency care. $400 later she seems like she'll be okay. Going to have to transport her 4 more times for more injections. Vet confirmed it was upper respiratory and mouth rot from all the excess saliva. We'll see, she's a young one so hopefully she can...

    Cham might have parasites?

Yeah this is the challenge of him being in the wild. Chameleons can be creatures of habit so he might bask and poop in one spot every other day or so - depends on how much he eats and what his routine is. But again, treating him is going to have some significant cons - is it worth the pros? If...

    veiled chameleon colors

They generally don’t like to be held. Some will tolerate it during feedings or when they are being moved to a free range they like but otherwise nope. My veieled is a female and she turns beautiful receptive colors when I hold her, which is very cute but I still know she’s going to get...

Just got first chameleons last week! Looking for feedback on set up and chameleons, over worried chamdad.

The slimline fixture I believe has a plastic cover over the uvb bulb. That needs to be removed as uvb can’t penetrate thru it. To use that T8 fixture, you’ll need to get a 10.0 uvb bulb for correct levels. It’s pumpkin season and those and various winter squashes, sweet potatoes and such are...

Help! Baby panther chameleon seems sick

A plastic Tupperware container with a stick or dowel stuck through it, so s/he has something to hold on to. Make sure there are some air holes. Wrap the container in a nice towel, and that should keep it warm between the car and the house/vet’s office.

    Swollen back legs

If the urate is all white that means he is well hydrated so certainly not dehydrated. The swelling certainly isn't normal and unfortunately as I've said I dont think anything the vet has done has addressed it, so it will most likely get worse. I would say he absolutely needs a blood test to see...

    New young veiled chameleon

I push a stick through a box about 2 inches above the bottom and take mine to the vet that way.
