    New eggs

Sorry...I haven't used perlite...but lots of people do. Do you have a lid on the container? Is the perlite moistened?

    Gnat Problem

I currently use Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. I'm thinking the excessive moisture was because of my cheap mister that I bought when I first got my cham. The plants directly under the nozzles definitely got drenched more from the mist. The nozzles also would continue to drip out even after the...

    Gnat Problem

...a peroxide/water mix…. If your soil is not drying up between mistings, look up how to make an aroid soil mix, so it can have the proper drainage to it. I put reptile bark, perlite, just got some pumice in but haven’t tried adding that yet. And I’m trying to do some more research on worm...

AVOID in ground soil - a better alternative to use for your plants!

...for chameleons, healthy for my plants, and allowed adequate drainage. The problem with the ones that are organic with no added fertilizers or perlite is that they are typically made with compost - which stinks when it becomes wet for a prolonged amount of time, and can cause numerous issues...

    Impaction

...husbandry. Short of eating something so large it causes a blockage(like a little stone that can't be passed) there's no reason dirt, or even perlite in soil should cause a blockage. Chameleons eat all sorts of insects, beetles are a common meal in the wild, and all of these have shells/chitin...

...went for the dirt and ate one of the white things in it! I immediately grabbed a towel to cover the soil but now Im worried. I imagine this would work great in tandem with rocks/pebbles at the bottom of the pot

What kind of soil can I use for my plants inside the enclosure?

Things like charcoal, orchid bark, and perlite could be added to the lower layers while the top layer could be free of all that

What kind of soil can I use for my plants inside the enclosure?

Now I feel crazy, I can almost swear I have had several bags of that with perlite in it?! Did they change the mixture? The thing is, most soil has something whether it be wood chunks, perlite, bark, etc. The purpose is for drainage/aeration. Foxfarms is one of my favorites for sure, but if it's...

    Plant pot size preferences?

2 minor problems?? (overwatering plant issues)

The best solution is to change your substrate to something that drains better. Avoid anything with perlite (which is a great additive but your cham will eat it). Instead use LARGE grade horticultural charcoal and barks, and some long stand sphag moss to create a better draining soil. I do...

    Plant pot size preferences?

...In general when I do big fresh mixes I will do the following however; 1 part base ( and organic topsoil, coco coir, peat etc. Dealers choice) 1 part organic material (compost/castings) 1 part drainage (i use perlite but there are plenty of other options. Perlite is cheap and readily available)

    MBD? Dehydrated? Advice please

A good soap and water wash of the leaves will remove any pesticides or more virulent bacteria. It doesn't need to be sterile just clean. Cover or remove any perlite or fertilizer particles. I cover mine with river rocks larger than my chams head.

    Tough decision ?

    Soil & Gnats

...I have been told that I “can just get a bag from a local store” but I want to make sure I’m getting the right thing. The problem is that damn perlite that’s in almost all soils, even organic! On top of this, as I said earlier I have a bit of a gnat problem. In my research I came across this...

    Carly's Enclosure Upgrade

Carly likes to go inside and sleep in the plants so that might be hard. 😬 I might see how they do with the grow light since they have never had one before replacing the soil.
