    No shed yet??

...down the isopods. Even my leopard geckos are hunting them down. Definitely get another fecal done if you can, just to make sure. For gnat control, I use Katchy’s, but nothing has been able to keep up with the dratted pests except the mosquito bits. In the past I had some drosera capensis...

that’s a very cool story thank you for sharing! I unfortunately probably won’t go through with this after hearing your story😅 but maybe one day they will be easily assessable feeders!

    Is he chubby?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to all my info! What would you recommend for a free range? I’m very paranoid about him falling. I worry about EVERYTHING 😅. We don’t have trees here really that don’t have sap.

    Is he chubby?

Cage Info: Cage Type – Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) I have a reptizoo 24'' x 18'' x 36'' Reptile Terrarium This is a bit smaller than is ideal. The standard minimum is 2x2x4’. I’ve upgraded mine to double sized and after seeing how much my chameleons use all of the space...

    Little black bugs everywhere

Yes, I use Katchys and they do trap tons of gnats. However, it only keeps the numbers under control. Hatching some mantis ooths in your enclosure also helps, along with the sundew that @jamest0o0 mentioned.

    Little black bugs everywhere

I let my gnats get out of control and have since caught probably a couple thousand in a couple weeks after getting those big bright yellow traps. Didn't realize how bad it was across all my houseplants.

    Thrips and maybe fungus gnats

Can't offer any advice on the mites However I can share what has worked for me.... I've got a out a dozen or so plants in the enclosure and I've definitely had my battles with pests I normally do a mantis ooth (seasonal items so when I can get my hands on them) when the gnats get out of...

    Little black bugs everywhere

That’s how mine was, crazy. Once I repotted into the soil I detailed in my previous post, I haven’t had a single issue!

    Thrips and maybe fungus gnats

every spring I have an ootheca in every enclosure 👍 the survivors that my chams dont eat make it to round 2 in my planters outside. I love mantids almost as much as chameleons so it warms my heart to see one reach maturity and hanging out in my garden. I name them Rambo cause they've cleared...

Dealing with pests , specifically scale.

I feel ya! Pests are the worst! I have 250 houseplants & deal with aphids spider mites thrips fungus gnats & mealy bugs, which is in the scale family. I haven’t had the particular ones you are experiencing (yet) but I have heard they are next to impossible to completely 100% get rid of. Which I...

    Mosquitoes

Spring is here and eggs Are layed in top soil. Remove top soil cover with plaxtic wrap for about a week then vacuum up the flying ones so they dont lat new eggs. You can also cover soil with screen and chiffon. Plastic wrap tends to sufficate them. Vacuum everyday to get it under control...

I left out the most important preventative—adequate drainage.

    Mantis eggs arrived.... questions

I ordered and received 5 of the North Carolina species and now am trying to figure out what to do with them. I would like to put one or two in each chameleon cage and then put the rest in individual containers and possibly give them to friends and relatives for their garden. Couple of...

    Soil & Gnats

Unless your enclosure is bioactive—or you have a gravid female—I can't imagine why a strictly arboreal chameleon would be interested in soil, BICBW. Peroxide should be fine; it degrades rapidly. I haven't tried it for this personally, but I'll talk it over with the 'plantmistress' and we may...

    Knat issue

...plants (Sundews in particular) might kill two gnats with one boulder (or something like that...) Here are some previous threads to get started: https://www.chameleonforums.com/search/1078846/?q=gnat+control&o=relevance We are talking about soil gnats, right? soil gnat control

Post your beautiful/ideal Jackson’s enclosure please

In one setup I did and in the other one just shortly. Didn´t do anything about it, I believe by time the clean-up crew does their job by eating the larvae of the gnats.

    Chameleon Olympics

I love it when they stand erect—or try to—especially with tail wrapped around something for stability. All that they do—and/or can do—controlled by that most basic reptile brain. The Wonders of Nature! 😲 (Awe)

    Gnat Problem

May freeze the plant. Remove top soil where eggs are hatching before u try the new stuff you got. I put screen over top soil and fine chiffon cloth which helps. Also vacuum up the ones that are flying around so the dont lay again. With daily diligence you should get it under control within a...
