    Enclosure review

So I have made just a few adjustments thinking that they may help. Here's what I did: Moved African Violets and polka dot plant down a bit. I don't think they loved being right under that UVB light. I also angled the UVB light a little bit to get some more coverage on the basking perch spot...

    Your favorite flowers/flowering plants?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!! I ended up going to Home Depot yesterday and got two spiderwort, a polka dot plant, and an African violet! I absolutely want to get a wandering Jew and even the pretty looking Madagascar jasmine in the future but I’d have to order those and it’s horrendously...

    Your favorite flowers/flowering plants?

The spiderwort is an inchplant—just another name. It may do better in partial shade rather than up in the light's face. IDK if the violet will get enough light down where it is, but time will tell. Same for the polka dot plant. They're all great looking plants, but this is exactly why I was...

    Live plants for Veiled

Our veiled just got a new dracaena and African Violet yesterday.... this is her enjoying first bites...looks like she’s enjoying a little too much🙃 She tried unsuccessfully to chew the Dracaena and left her little triangle mouth prints here and there....

    Plants Alive! Challenge

Begonias and African Violets. The former is supposedly quite easy but I have never had any success with either in my chameleon enclosures. African Violets are native to the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania, home of several montane species, so they should theoretically make a good, colorful...

Managed to find some African violets today! These will be the last plants I add! Wanted some color in there and been looking everywhere for these.

    Plant lights

OK, the way I read the listing, that's a 50W desk plant light "for Seedlings Succulents Micro-Greens". IMO, it's intended for the 6-8" African violet sitting on someones workstation; IDT it's powerful enough for a 48"H chameleon enclosure—it probably won't have the penetration to reach more...

Your going to have trouble with the hibiscus, as that needs full sun all day every day. Rest of the plants should work, african violets don't handle frequent touching by animals well though. As for lighting, your going to want a daylight bulb, rather than the blue light. A mistking system as...

So it's getting pretty close to that time. ;) This thread will be used for me to get advice, ask questions, and post progress pictures. I will need as much help as possible since I am very new to bioactive and I don't want to mess this up. So, without further ado, let's get this started...

Need advice on grow light for plant.....

Pothos LOVE water. It's not an over watering issue. I have mine in African violet pots. They have a reservoir of water that is soaked in through the ceramic inner pot, so they are constantly wet. I really believe that it's a light issue.

...2009, I’ve been involved in competitive growing, judging, and writing articles for various horticultural organizations. Mostly I grow African violets and other gesneriads, but also begonias, carnivorous plants, and anything else that catches my eye, from ant plants and hoyas, to variegated...

I would do some research before getting all your plants. As another member said, hibiscus has very particular conditions. One of the conditions is soil with a particular pH that may differ from the other plants. My hibiscus at work gets mad at me when I over water it which might be a problem in...

    organic soil

    organic soil

If the pothos will be watered by the mister, directly, I recommend people order "wicking mix" from eBay or and African violet vendor and covering the soil with something to prevent chameleons ingesting it. "Organic" soil can still have perlite and additives that are organic, but pose an...

    Live plants

It sounds like your lighting situation is limiting. Baby tears is going to probably do ok. If not shaded by other plants. You have spider plants, pothos, agloenema, fittonia, some bromeliads, phaleonopsis orchids, calathea, anthuriums, draceana, and more or less things found in the houseplant...
