    Buying chams

Many fear the process of shipping, but it is as safe as can be and a good breeder won’t take chances if the weather or other conditions aren’t just right. All of the breeders who sponsor the forums are excellent and have worked hard and earned their great reputations and create healthy and...

    Escaping Discord Roaches

Dear Lord! In another time, I would have said you needed to burn the house to the ground! After living in roach central (aka Florida) and keeping insectivores it’s amazing how drastically perspectives change.

Panther chameleon yellow mouth. Cause for concern?

That is just the natural color of his mouth. No cause at all for concern. Even some vets get wrongly concerned about yellow mouths, but that’s just the color.

Littlefoot & Mr. Jack photo dumps

Yay pirate bugs! 🥳 From what I just read, if they start biting you, it means they’ve got little to no other food left and are just tasting you.

    Color meaning

It means she’s maturing into an adult. Has she been restless or more active than usual? Generally with the onset of developing their colors/patterns, they have their first receptive period (all dressed up and looking for a cute boy). If you haven’t already set up a lay bin for her, now is the...

    Help daisy chain heat lamps

Wow! You went for lucky number 7. 😂 I don’t know of any basking lights that daisy chain, but I know who might - https://www.lightyourreptiles.com/ contact Todd and ask and he’ll surely know.

    Eyes Closed— UPDATE

Yeah…sorry. Looks like the whole site has migrated to Facebook and Instagram. I didn’t know. 😕 Try this…I know it works. https://members.arav.org/search/custom.asp?id=3661 What I do is read the info on the doctors of the clinic to see who has a special interest in exotics. If I google, often...

    Escaping Discord Roaches

Are you sure they are discoids? There are some other roaches (not sure what type - maybe palmetto bugs?) that look an awful lot like adult discoids. The only way that I can tell that they aren’t is the few I’ve found, I’ve caught in a tall deli cup and they are superb climbers. Discoids suck at...

    Eyes Closed— UPDATE

I don’t know if this will be of any help to you. For routine things, like wellness checks and fecals, pretty much any exotics vet will suffice. For a vet with more experience and knowledge with chameleons, you may need to travel a bit. Btw, I don’t think the weather anywhere is making sense.

    Safe flowers

Hibiscus is safe, but requires a strong plant light. Also, it’s best to clean it thoroughly down to bare root to eliminate any hitchhiking pests (usually ants). My veiled lady loves her hibiscus and in her prime would eat them down to the nub. My other girl just nibbled. Whether yours is a...

The name Bug has been on the list of possibilities. What is that about great minds…. 😂 Thanks so much. 🥰

    Gaping :(

That looks like just a crease. If he was gaping before the superworm, then it likely is something else. I looked back and you had your husbandry checked by @Beman who is awesome, so it doesn’t seem that could be any problem there. Honestly, I’m at a loss. Is the sun shining in on him thru a...

    Gaping :(

Mouth rot is basically a wound in the mouth. You would see possibly a small amount of drainage or what looks like a scab on/near the mouth, possibly a divot or a swelling, dark spot in the mouth where there shouldn’t be along the gum line, reluctance to eat, especially crunchier bugs. I’ve...

Thanks! I’m unbelievably happy to have them. 🥰 It’s hard being a cat lady without any cats.

    Gaping :(

Heat guns are a great tool, but you should also use a thermometer with a wired probe end to measure air temp. The guns only measure surface temps. Keep a close eye out for any signs of possible mouth rot.

    Gaping :(

Generally with a respiratory infection, they will have their faces pointed up, like stargazing. How are you checking your basking temps? What kind of thermometer are you using? To rule out the gaping from being overheated, try turning the basking light off and see if he still gapes after it all...

    Appetite Loss— Help!

Your vet may need to give him an injection of some D3 and may also prescribe a special form of it to give, at least for a short time. Do refuse if they try to give any vitamin A injections, as if you’ve been giving the ReptiVite, he has been getting preformed A. It’s essential that you remember...

    Kitties!

lol Lovey was a thought, but I once had a dog named that. Had a cat named Romeo once and he was a total doll. Yup…had one named Dolly too. 😂 Poor guy is probably going to end up being Sweetie after all. If there’s a cat (occasionally dog) with a stupid name, it probably was or is one of mine.

    Appetite Loss— Help!

Well, with my veiled girl Stella, all I have to do is get near her and she gapes at me. My boy Lucky used to if I got a hand too close, but having to hand feed him due to poor vision, he’s used to me now and it takes trying to pick him up to get him to gape. He can go a while without eating, so...
