    Eating leaves…stripping plants bare…

One of my earlier male Chamaeleo calypatratus used to clear entire small Ficus Tree's of leaf mater. That making male Chamaeleo calypatratus capable leaf consumers. That is some evidence of male Chamaeleo calypatratus living on a substantial vegetarian diet. Veggies! Best Regards Jeremy A. Rich

    New chameleon owner

I have removed all of the mulch and soil from his enclosure. I don’t know what to do about the substrate he has already consumed. He does not seem to be in pain or unwell.

    Feeder bite

Noted, but it was from a feeder cricket because I saw one crawl onto her face while she was eating, I usually try to pick off the ones that crawl onto her to avoid bites but she got pissy and hissed at me when I tried to take it off, with the horn worms I tend to hand feed those and I hold...

    Gout in chameleons

I also only feed my dubia fresh veggies. I do occasionally offer them bug burger, which likely has some protein in it, but they get it maybe 1x a month along side their veggies.

    Can chameleons eat water melion

Hello and welcome! Chameleons shouldn’t be fed fruits or veggies as they are not built to digest them. Bugs only, but you can feed fruits and veggies to the bugs your feed your chameleon

    Tis a puzzlement

We use the Repashy Plus LoD multivitamin which I think is preformed (please correct me if I'm wrong!) and the vet suggested adding an extra supplementation every month for the next couple months (so 3x per month instead of 2x per month), to see if it helps with his eye.

    Behavior

All of this sounds great. And if Baines is in on sol reptile then it would be a quality product. I know basics with the lighting... More knowledge with the UVB levels. But once you get into kelvin and this and that I have no clue other than a daylight bulb of 6500k is a great option. :hilarious:

    Feeding supplements to feeders

...week or two spread through out the whole colony in the dry chow i make. Which only makes up about 5-8% of their diet, the rest is the usual veggies from the store or the garden. I still dust my feeders (i don't expect it to ever replace that. But I am always looking for ways to make...

New Cham Mom with some qs!!

No it’s not required to blend. I personally do, then I put in ice cube trays and freeze. I just put a cube in their bin when I feed them. But I only have one Cham and no other reptiles so if I don’t, I end up wasting veggies. They can do just fine without blending or thin portions. ☺️

My crickets keep dying. What am I doing wrong?

...Without the sponge, crickets seem to be dying at a slightly slower rate. I assume they're getting enough moisture from the fresh veggies I give them every other day. I only keep about 40 crickets at a time in there, so there's plenty of food and plenty of room. I transfer the crickets into a...

    Introduction to the community

Next is raising insects! Then, you might get into buying veggies and greens you would never have thought of buying! Pretty soon you’ll need a whole room for all the chameleons and insects…

Don’t ever feed your feeders non organic!

I received 100 differential grasshoppers today and didn’t have any organic veggies around so just tossed in some romaine lettuce, carrots, celery in there for now. Within 45 minutes every single one died. I spoke to a breeder (who frequents here) and he said that’s got to be from pesticides...

    Gut Loading Meat

I was preparing some veggies to gut load some crickets for the chams, and I decided to toss in a piece of organic pasture raised beef hot dog. The crickets are going to town on it. Has anyone else tried gut loading meat and could it be a way to increase nutritional value in crickets?

    Slugs in bio active enclosure

Yes key is to keep your CuC fed with all kinds of stuff. I’m using leaf litter, trim waste and sometimes veggies or fruit rests. It’s correct, also has a big slug problem and tried the beer trap method (which works good) and the solution you tried already, putting in food and through them...

    Random Veileds

My local Petsmart. I keep telling the associates and manager, omit feeding them the bowl of veggies. Remove the water bowl just mist the cage. Petsmart has the option to get the arboreal setup from the cage manufacturer.

Don’t ever feed your feeders non organic!

Yikes! I used cheap veggies to feed my Differentialis. I hung the food to avoid all the poop falling onto the food.

I need help making a bio active terrarium

...give the cuc some of whatever I’m feeding my feeder insects - I put it under their cork bark so they can stay hidden as they enjoy some fresh veggies. Every now and then I’ll find an escapee isopod strolling down the hall. I’ve determined that some came out when the leaf litter had become...

    Treat bugs how often?

...This is the case for most foods. This might be the case like if you had a pet human and fed it "the most protein dense plant per calorie" it would starve to death on a full stomach because it would be 1kg to get 100 calories, so 45 pounds of veggies a day to get your 2000 calories to live.

    New Keeper Questions...

...him so I appreciate your referrals. As for gutloading, I will definitely step up my game (I'm a picky eater so don't typically keep a lot of veggies in the house so buying specifically for feeders and the veggies spoiling before going through them is kicking my butt. I've heard of people...

    Bump on jaw?

It’s not that all veggies are bad…some are just better than others and veileds don’t need any. I won’t give my beardies any spinach or kale, but I do give a variety of other greens, like dandelion, turnip, mustard, arugula. I use the same to give to my insect feeders. I do have to give a word...
