Female veiled laying behavior or concern?

Hi. 🙂 How big is the lay bin? I found they prefer to have at least 12” wide and long. That pot looks a bit small. Also, something needs to extend down to the soil so she can enter/exit easily. Pics of my lay bin in my blog. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/veiled-chameleon-laying-101.2488/

Imitation is supposed to be the sincerest form of flattery, so I entered a pic too. Had to grab a brand new one though. 😁

    Female veiled chameleon?

Thanks, love! 🥰Some days I wonder how I’ve managed to survive into adulthood with how scatterbrained I can be. 😂

Should I upgrade my heat lamp wattage?

8-9” is the ideal distance then. 🙂

    chameleon stool colors

Hard to say without seeing the poo/urate and if it’s just one time. However, if he hasn’t been tested for parasites, this is a good reason to get it done. Even if he has been tested and it was negative, they can still have parasites that weren’t shedding (whatever it is that the parasites shed)...

Should I upgrade my heat lamp wattage?

Providing you are using the standard recommended T5 fixture with either a ReptiSun 5.0 or Arcadia 6% uvb bulb, the distance should be 8-9”. The distance is dictated by which type and strength uvb you are using.

Should I upgrade my heat lamp wattage?

I would upgrade to a 75w, but just make sure it gives the desired temp and not too warm.

    Female veiled chameleon?

Looks like a cute little girl to me. 🤗 I’m not seeing any tarsal spurs. Do you need any help or guidance with husbandry?

    Hunger strike!

Try increasing his basing temp to around 85. 78 is too cool for a male panther.

    Hunger strike!

Popping out at me is your uvb age. What kind of reader do you have? What are the exact readings you’re getting and from what distance? What are his basking temps? Another suspect would be parasites, as those are often the cause for appetite changes. Depending on where you get your feeders from...

    What do these colors mean?

If you have an automatic mister, that is perfect and no need to worry. But if you’re hand misting, you don’t want to risk disturbing her from her work, so would want to use a dripper method.

    What do these colors mean?

Once she starts digging, it usually takes a day or two from start to finish. She may sleep in her tunnel or go to a branch for the night. You’ll know she’s all done when she’s completely covered her tunnel and is basking, looking a bit thinner and dirty. She might not yet be ready to lay, but is...

My panther chameleon is brown/ darker in color

It’s hard to tell…does he have a basking branch about 8-9” below his heat light? I love your plants! You could add some more branches or vines though…more little chameleon roads to travel.
