    fungas gnats

Drosera capensis solved my infestation of soil gnats within days in my Cham room(half dozen bioactive enclosures and free ranges). Had to wear a mask or you’d breath them in… no other method worked. All the flies went to the plants(they grew a lot that week haha). All that said, some species...

Gnats? Fungus gnats can come up when your plant soil is too damp usually from misting.

    Little black bugs everywhere

How would I be able to get rid of them? I’m guessing if they are gnats they probably are from my pothos cause that plant has moderately moist soil.

Fungus gnats ,will mosquito bits help?

Mosquito bits totally work for fungus gnats. I just sprinkle some right on top of the plant soil and they work when you water them. I haven't really had to re-apply after a year or more of doing it so far and we have probably upwards of 50 house plants including the ones in Mr Puff's habitat.

Fungus gnats ,will mosquito bits help?

...for me in my chameleon enclosures is hatching mantis ooths. I occasionally have bouts with white fly, which are about the size of soil gnats but… White! They’re a pain in the butt, but the mantids hatch, munch on the gnats or white flies for a few days before becoming a snack for the...

    Gnat Problem

It's been awhile since I've been on here, but I need help with a soil gnat problem! I just had to throw out a couple of my pothos and Calathea Zebrina plants that I had near the top and middle of my enclosure because I found eggs in them. I took them outside and poured hydrogen peroxide on the...

    fungas gnats

When my house plant collection get these gnats, I allow my soil to really really dry out, about to where you see leaves starting to droop...then water with 50/50 peroxide and water....another method used (that I wouldn't recommend, while in the enclosure) is isopropyl alcohol. Spray the surface...

    Please help if possible!

Agreed! I wish I would have done more research, had everything setup, and not purchased gnat infested soil 🤣, but it is what it is! 🤷🏻‍♀️ We live and we learn!

    No shed yet??

He had a negative parasite test, but the vet gave him barium and panacur (sorry for the misspelling) since he wasn’t eating much. Ugh! I hate when vets treat blindly when they have no results. I can understand the panacur, but what was the barium for? Did they take x rays or something? The...

    No shed yet??

The barium was to lubricate his stomach, I assumed that’s what would be best, so they gave him some. His poops have been normal since, and his rates are even batter, so I am glad about that. I am not sure of the type of mold, but it was most likely because we used grapevine and the hygrometer...

    Little black bugs everywhere

Ok amazing to know!! I definitely make a list of the materials to make my own. I don’t think I can make the soil/get the supply’s right away. But hopefully I’ll be able to make some soil soon! As for the gnats, I’ve put a vinegar trap in the cage, so hopefully that will take care of a good...

Fungus gnat issues and potential dehydration?

You said…”So for the past 3ish days weve been using soapy water on the plant pot soil, and a little bit of hydrogen peroxide mainly in the bottom saucer to be absorbed and kill off some of the gnat larvae.“…your chameleon could drink this and would likely die from it if enough of it was...

    fungas gnats

We use mosquito bits or dunks to keep them out of our house plants. It's supposed to be safe for wildlife and pets. It contains some kind of bacteria that kills the larvae. It also kills fungus gnats (white flies). You can sprinkle them onto the soil and it works when you water or mix it in with...

    Katchy Question

...but due to them needing a very wet nutrient poor soil mix, it wouldn’t do well to be planted directly in your enclosure. What you can put in your enclosure is a mantis ooth. When the baby mantids hatch out, they will eat as many soil gnats as they can (before getting eaten by your chameleon).

    Little black bugs everywhere

Fungus gnats are the worst thing to ever exist. Usually they occur due to an issue with the soil being too wet and having a hard time draining. That’s what happened to me. You might need to repot your plants with new soil that you add something like orchid bark to, to increase drainage. I can...
