Fungus gnat problem? Wanted to share this

I'm not bioactive in my cages, but do you think I could get a colony of these rove beetles and put some in each pot that I have in there? So, a few in each pothos plant, for example, and do you think they would stay there? Think my husband will divorce me if I had these escape the reptile...

    Chameleon crazy person

I was in a Petsmart and wandered by the lighting section. I stood and listened to a salesperson sell a $25 basking light to a couple of guys because one of their girlfriends needed it for her beardie. I was leaving and saw them in line with it, swung over and said, "sorry, couldn't help but...

    First time outside!

Also you want to make sure you are really close to him because a bird can swoop down and nab him in a second. The natural sunlight is awesome for him though so great that you could take him outside!

    How do you withstand this?

I was just getting bloodwork done for a new job at a hospital and was talking to the nurse about chameleons (I have a 3/4 sleeve of my veiled Turk on my arm that she saw). She was talking about her daughter's veiled who is 8 and who she babysits. She described giving him warm baths and...

Possibly a really dumb question about my Cricket Keeper.

Also, tap the top, or the sides to knock them back down, and keep doing it to keep them from jumping out. Alternatively you could throw the container in the fridge for a few min for them to go to sleep, then pull them out and quickly clean the cage before they wake up.

    Newb question- time change?

I change mine as well, and second the opinion of mirroring the sun. My reptile room has a window and I keep the shades open for my little ones :) It may take them a week to adjust but they will do so just fine. If you are concerned you could always make the adjustments over a 4-day stretch...

    Safe water

I live in FL, and have a well with hard water. I would go to the local supermarket and buy the purified water from the water machines just inside the door, and use a large 6 gallon carboy to tote it home. If I used my well water, which was fine for the chameleons, it would plug up the mister...

Ok to be in a closet

She will, she'll just need a little time to adjust. Give her a couple of weeks and she'll be just fine

    Need help deciding

I can't speak to the Zen cages, as all I have are Dragonstrands, and I do not have a bioactive cage (unless you count plant gnats!) :ROFLMAO: However, I took a pic of my Large Dragonstrand Atrium next to a 2x2x4 to get a good visual of the space differences. I was in the process of switching...

    Painting elephants...

I fell into the same trap. My mom loves elephants, so after a trip to a zoo in Colorado where I saw they sold paintings that their elephants made I ordered her one for Christmas. After that I heard on my Stuff You Should Know (SYSK) podcast about the darker side of this practice and was upset...

Young Male panther breeding with young female

I can't speak about the babies, however you should not be housing all those females together in one cage. Each chameleon needs it's own separate cage which is also visually separated from those next to it. Please let us know if you have any other questions, because perhaps your husbandry could...

    Kids and pets

OP, your writing style is fantastic, and I read it in my head in the voice of my Scottish friend! I too wasn't thrilled about the idea of bringing bugs into the house, but I did get over it. For crickets what I did before I could touch them was to buy a hand-held vaccuum (like a Dirt Devil if...

Help me place my spider plant?

I've had the best luck with spider plants when they weren't directly under the lights, but instead were shaded by other plants just a touch. So I put my pothos a little higher, and let them shade the spider plants. Also, when the pup out (sprout that fireworks looking bush), you can clip that...
