enclosure getting too wet/ effective ways to dry out during the dayChameleon Info: Your Chameleon - Ambaja Panther Chameleon -male- in my care for jus

also - what does the fungus look like on your leaves? if it is black spots, its probably black sooty mold, which is a side effect of plant pests. Usually the typical fungus blooms happen at the soil level, not on the leaves - although if the air is too stagnant, you can certainly get fungal...

enclosure getting too wet/ effective ways to dry out during the dayChameleon Info: Your Chameleon - Ambaja Panther Chameleon -male- in my care for jus

without getting into the husbandry side, I've got a few suggestions. I, too, use Dragonstrand clearside enclosures, which offer great ventilation and humidity balance. Mine have a screen on the top and the right side. My technique for various species is to mist for about a minute just after...

Country wide shortage of distilled water???

Interesting! I noticed signs at the grocery store for distilled water at $2.50 a gallon (usually $1.15). They're still ringing up as $1.15, but I am switching to tap and will deal wtih the water stains in spring. Once spring rolls around, my local grocery store has a RO water machine where...

    Cloned (propagated) schefflera arboricola

I always have such a battle with scale and schefflera, but they do make great cham plants. Their stems make great (live) branches and the leaves are great for feeding and dinking

You can also inject their bugs, if they will willingly eat. How much (how many .ml) per dose?

    Mysterious bumps

They all behave differently with the syringe. Some don’t care at all, some spot it in my hand and know exactly what Im up to (but they’ll take the silkworm bait eventually), and some seem to eagerly drink from it. Layla here is super slow poke… takes her a moment to get moving, especially in...

    Mysterious bumps

I have good success with baiting them with a silk worm or bug… And when they stick their tongue out to aim, I slowly drip onto their tongue. You need to be exact though with this medication, so you really don’t want to take any chances with missing. Maybe try that technique out with some water...

Is this the start of a shed

Looks like “snalt” to me. They will sometimes excrete excess minerals from their nose. Only need to lightly dust the feeders. If they look like powdered donuts, use less calcium.

Fungus gnats ,will mosquito bits help?

If you go the mosquito dunks route… You need to allow the dunks to soak in water at least overnight, and then pour the water over the plant, not the dunks. You need to repeat the process I believe several times before it becomes fully effective.

Fungus gnats ,will mosquito bits help?

It’s hard to fight off fungus gnats and chameleon enclosures, because they thrive in moist environments. For house plants you can change the potting medium to ensure that it drains well and allows some air pockets, and that the top 2 inches dry out before you re-water. That’s a good practice...

    Mysterious bumps

I’m surprised they didnt lance it if they think its infection. Keep us updated over the next two weeks to see if the size reduces. I agree that a compress will be challenging and probably more stressful than anything. Keep him really well hydrated while on the antibiotics. Longer mistings...

MDB or Gout - Includes Xrays

6 months surprises me for gout to develop… always thought that one took more time to present (but I’m not even close to qualified to make that call). I will say that bloodwork will help determine gout… uric acid in the blood would he elevated (I believe), which can also be indicative of other...

    Hemipenis Prolapse and Amputation

I couldn't get in to see the vet for some time. Tonight we had our visit and he was given a thorough vent exam - happy to report that aside from a little scar tissue, he’s been given a clean bill of health (fecal, too)! The vet credited his turn around to the home treatment I provided below...

    Hemipenis Prolapse and Amputation

6 months post op and Donnie had been showing signs of discomfort/illness this weekend (sleeping and hiding). I suspect he may have a residual infection. His vent looks pretty good but I noticed a tiny piece of (??) tissue in the corner that was a bit suspect. It couldvt been hemip shed but it...
