    Vet dropped my cham

Worst one for me was just under the skin injections in the arm. They dont tell you that if you dont put pressure on when pulling the needle out, the meds can run right back out the hole. it was more traumatizing for me than the cham.

    Vet dropped my cham

Cham's first defence mechanism is "drop and run". Their chest cavity is a giant air bag, their ribs are springy cartilage. You could throw a cham from a plane and they will be fine as long as they hit leaf litter. Hitting a non carpeted floor or "rocks" is a bit more risky, but its still...

How much UVB does soft mosquito net block?

Im guessing it standard window screen, which is vinyl "because its soft". So that would be 50% light blockage. But even if the UV index is 4, and its blocking 50% down to 2, thats 2 "throughout the cage". That is completely different than "2 at basking and .2 a foot farther away".

    Dog outfits

Sister's dogs love outfits and want to go on walkies in them. My dog freezes in place and wont move unless under duress. Its cold out, you are a short hair, its either the doggie sweater or no walkee.

How much UVB does soft mosquito net block?

https://themeshcompany.com/mastering-the-calculation-of-mesh-open-area-percentage-in-woven-wire-mesh/ So its a simple calculation if you know the gauge of the hardware cloth and the mesh size. As a rule of thumb for "window screen style", galvanized blocks 1/3, and vinyl blocks half. But i...

    Power sources for lamps

Flappers are not very hot blooded chams. You are perfectly fine keeping them at 10c for a week. But no power bank is going to keep a cham warm for a week. Even DIY you are talking $1000 or more. Lets say you get a VERY efficient heating system going, say 200 watts continuous. Say 7 days, 24...

    Help traumatic transport

As part of the lesser mealworm master race, its the only cleanup crew that the dubia have not eaten. So the dubia have polished off the skull cleaners and pill bugs and spring tails, but the buffalo beetles are still soldering on after over a decade. Public service announcement, dont underfeed...

How (humans) eating insects became a conspiracy theory

I want what they are smoking... Though insects have long been considered inexpensive, healthy and sustainable sources of protein Ok raise your hands to anyone here that can get crickets or mealworms for less than $40 per pound "wet weight" let alone this powder stuff. the protein content of...

    Ceramic heat emitter

I go the other way. I install 1-2 "seed bed heaters" on the bottom of the cage. Heat rises, and combined with 3 sides of shower curtain, you end up with 10-15c of rising air. Each bed heater is only 10-20 watts, so burns or huge bills is pretty low. On a side, i hear that you should not used...

    Poppy's test results came in

Ive had tons of animals with benign growths under the skin, some quite large. Its just way too hard of them to get them removed. There is lots of swelling, drainage tubes(that need removed via vet trip a week later), antibiotics to prevent infections(the biotics also cause them issues). We...
