Fortelling the future?
These days I have dreams about 3D. But that's just because I'm in crunch time as a Senior in college and that's ALL I do during the day... O_O
I actually have had a surprisingly few set of dreams about chameleons... When I had my beardie I was constantly having dreams...
Maybe it's comparible to when your hands are freezing, and you run hot water over them to try warming them... "ouch!" It's always better to warm your hands gradually if they're that cold.
I would assume that after "tramatic" temperatures like that, immediately having the opposite extreme on...
I remove feeders from the cage an hour before lights out. I recall reading somewhere when I had a beardie (instead of my current chameleon) that as long as they have about an hour of light after eating they're fine. I wouldn't think it'd take all day to digest...
I know you say these are ambilobes, and I know NOTHING about them (I have a veiled) but I saw this thread the other day and wonder if sexing based on colors and patterns might work the same: https://www.chameleonforums.com/baby-parangs-20563/
I guess males have more patterns and contrast than...
Yeah, they're similar to birds in that way. It seems like animals that spend their entire lives balancing in trees just DON'T LIKE quick movement. (reasonably so)
What a cutie. :) I'd say back off for a few days except for feeding and spraying. He'll probably start eating normally again once he feels more safe.
As he sees it, that's his territory and it's being breached way too often for his taste. I doubt he likes that.
Good luck!
That's actually comforting because mine does that too... He always seems to be more active in the evening after hiding all morning.
Yeah, I wondered if it might be stress, too. Maybe try cleaning every other day, or every three days?
EDIT -- Oh! I just caught that you've had him 8...
I've noticed my male veiled in the last several months has changed his behavior many times... He finally became more aggressive, and it has gone up and down since then -- so maybe they just go through different phases. I was actually worried at one point that he was more aggressive because he...
When my veiled was younger he got white around his nostril, too. It's normal for them to secrete white from their nostril (I think it's calcium). You can easily wipe it off.
Someone else might be able to answer, though, if it happening too much is bad? I'm not actually sure.
Someone on the thread linked above said they are supposedly good for chameleons. Maybe they're moisturizing at the least. I dunno, if you search "indian sticks" you can read what other people have discussed already.
I had a walking stick as a pet as a kid... I would just feed it sticker-bush leaves, and it grew fine. :) I never sprayed it or anything, since I think they must get their moisture through the leaves. I do wonder if they could be fed anything else. They may not in the wild because I think they...
If you're using a plastic cup, as long as they can't grip the sides and it's tall enough that they can't jump out you should be fine.
Recently when preparing crickets in my kitchen unbeknownst to me they were able to grip the sides of the cup because of residual powder, and they were crawling...
Young veileds are mostly only interested in being carnivorous because they grow so fast. For now I'd just gutload your feeders with what you want him to get. Wait until he's an adult, then try offering it directly.
I'm going through the same thing. Mine pretty much only like crickets and...
Aren't pothos at least mildly toxic to chameleons? I know they're recommended (and I'm growing one right now) but I swear I've read that they're toxic...
