when my chameleons shed i tend not to spray them, and notice that the skin comes of faster and easier, and i make sure that there is somethink that they can rub up against that is rough. i have a jungle vine that is quite rough, and they tend to wrap there tails round it when they walk about...
I use sandfire super foods chamereon dust by T-REX on all the food that my chams eat
i also use a gut loading for the crickets which is Calcium Plus Cricket food (T. Rex)
should i use anythink else for my chameleons?? or is that enough to cover all the things taht they might need, they...
I use a disposable cup cut in half/quater. but have also taken to now using a deep ashtray that is clean. after a while the cups and containers tend to get a build up of dirt and the calcium/vitamin powders. but the glass on a ashtray is easily cleaned, and dosnt topple over and result in...
i've taken out nearly all the good ones, and going to keep them for a while befor there eater, luckly i got plenty of other stuff to feed the chams for now.
it looks like a war scene in there, dead bodies all over the place and some still twitching. lol think i'll just put the crickets out...
i ordered a bulk bag for the first time ever, and was shocked to find that it was a actual bag! fulled with apparently 800-1000 crickets (was more like 2-300) and hadnt a clue how to get them all out, especially since there was a few egg boxes inside and they were all sitting in between...
thats the strange thing, it's completely dry, all that is in there is some crickets, tubes, and a food and water tray. the water is in a jelly kind of stuff.
I have just discovered that a lot of the crickets i have been feeding my chameleons are dead! and there all gooey and covered in maggots!
would the maggots if eaten by my 2 chameleons effect them or would they get digested??
there are no signs as yet of anythink wrong, they arnt showing...
a strawberry planter might make a diffrence, but soil can soak up a lot of water, and any that comes into contact with it will get soaked up. and since there would be a lot more holse, there would be a lot more places that the water can get to the soil, and the chals will probably just pull out...
been to busy to reply!
yes that is a diffrent cage that the male is in, they only see each other during the night because i move them to a cooler room.
have been busy constructing new cages for them, hopefully they can be finnished soon and live worry free.
i was thinking of constructing a incubator myself, since i cant afford to buy one.
i have a thick polystyorine box with a lid
and was thinking of getting a aquarium heater with a thermostat, filling the box half way with water, putting a tray above the water, and putting the eggs in a box...
the wiring
they wont get burnt, i'm sorta house bound, and am constantly in the same room, every move they make i can see what there doing. they dont usually have access to the wiring anyway, but she only gets up there when everythink is off.
my chameleon has shed 4 times in the last 2 months, seems to have grown real fast! i try to keep him dry when he's shedding, seems to make things go a lot faster and smoother.
would it be a bad idea to put a 2month old male chameleon with a 2-3 week old female? it's a big enclosure, but i'm worried that the smaller one will get eaten.
My chameleon is only a few months old, and has developed a blocked nose, i think it was from the shedding. only one side is blocked. what should i do? he keeps opening his mouth to breath, but dosnt do this all the time. will it come out on the next time that he sheds??
he's finnished...
