In my experience you can go a few days without feeding the chams and they are fine. As long as they have a water source and everything else in their cage is good then it should be ok. What I usually do when I go away for weekends is give my cham a large portion of food than he would normally...
I bought the exoterra vines. they were good until the coating started to come off. Once I put my veil in his big boy cage I wasn't taking a chance and threw them away.
Just starting some research, I currently own a Veiled chameleon and I am looking for my second cham to join my collection. Just curious if anyone has any recommendations for a very good panther chameleon breeder (Be it individuals or a business). I would like to find a place that has good...
Just saw my chameleon poop today and I noticed that once he finished a piece of red tissue was coming out of his vent. It retracted back into the vent. I have not seen him poop before so I am curious if this is normal for a chameleon. I know that if the tissue prolapses that it can be a medical...
Taken all of that into consideration. Started feeding crickets romaine lettuce instead of the orange cubes as well. I am super happy that I am getting this down. I've been pulling my hair out trying to tweak my husbandry so that I can hit that sweet spot so Arcadius is happy. I think I have...
Oddly enough I have started to supplement him with vitamins, the "benign tumor" seems to have shrunk significantly after only a couple of days. I am beginning to think that there was no tumor to begin with. On a side not he seems like he way more happier in his new cage and seems to be more...
You can actually re-screen those cages. You just need to take the spline out of the groove. Cut your screen. And then re-spline it. Just like any other type of screen you would see around your house.
Not sure what is going on but the veil on my chameleon has been shedding for a while now and I'm not sure why. Really stumped. Any thoughts on what could be going on?
Vivariums have screens on all sides and allow air to flow through the cage freely where as terrariums have glass on most sides and do not allow very much airflow.
I will chime in and agree that the monsoons suck. I had mine for 4 months and it already went out on me . They did send me a brand new one. I'm currently saving for a aquazamp. Only bought the monsoon cause I didn't do my research.
Well if they are ignoring the water feature I would just remove it. No sense in making extra work for yourself if your chams aren't even interested in it
Any fountain or "water feature" needs to be removed from your enclosure ASAP. It will breed bacteria and will most likely cause your chameleon to get sick. I think I have seen my chameleon drink water once or twice since I have owned him. They will rarely drink when someone is watching. As long...
Typically if your cham is spending a lot of time on the floor of the viv it means that the temps are too hot at the top for him/her to be up there for any period of time. Check your temps and make sure it is not too hot. Shouldn't be any warmer than mid 90's for an adult
Yes they look good to go. The way you can tell is if they turn brown then they are fertile. If they stay yellow they are infertile. I'm currently waiting on my first batch to hatch. Nothing yet thought.
You can get a feeder cup for the crickets for the the time being until the chameleon can hunt properly. Stay away from the monsoon systems ...yes they are the most inexpensive option , but you'll have troubles in the long run. I had one go out on me in less than 4 months. Spend the extra 20...
I will give you a few pointers from what I've gained since having my chameleon
1. Get a different cage , glass is horrible and the chameleon needs to have good ventilation and glass cannot provide that. Glass may work for the time being but look into getting a 24"x24"x48" screened cage.
2...
