:D I think it WAS your thread that gave me the idea.. Perfect setup IMO for drainage.
Do you guys let your cham roam in the grass at all oustide or do you just put him/her on a plant? I've been letting Koopa roam in the grass. He stays close by and I keep a close eye on him.
I live in the Central Coast of California. Beautiful weather out here. How much sun is good? The more the better? If so, maybe I'll let him out a few more times a week.
Thank you :) Yea, I highly recommend a vanity setup for drainage (if indoors). There are cheaper ones too! I paid about $80 for this one, but there were white ones with one cabinet door for about $40-50
Nice. That's really cool that you get to keep them outside a lot. I've only had my little...
Thank you! I got the idea from a thread I found a while back on this forum. I really just wanted something that would look decent in my living room, since everybody that comes over will be looking in that direction since the enclosure is adjacent to my tv. Really goes with the room and gets my...
Let me first state that I am in NO WAY handy with tools:cool:, so this was an enormous project for me. All the work has paid off though, and my new little guy(4 month veiled) is very happy, and so is my 6 year old son, so it was allll worth it.
Dimensions of the cage are 2x2x3. The drainage...
I actually bought a similar one from home depot two days ago for the exact same reason. I got a really nice brown one for about $80. My Mistking system comes in today, so I wanted to tackle the whole project this weekend.
I'm real excited for my little guy, BUT, the one thing I'm scared of...

I've searched this topic for weeks and either:
A. People say they've had it in their cham's cage with no ill effects, or
B. People say, "I heard it's toxic, dont' use it."
Yet, nobody has any examples or 1st hand experiences of the plant actually being toxic.
I have one in my veiled's...
So I've had my little guy for exactly a week today. He's a 4 month Veiled, "Koopa." He actually hand-fed from me the first day I got him. What I did is I took a cricket, tore off one of his hind legs, placed it in my palm, and then offered it to my cham. He snatched it up first try. Try it out...
I've had my little Koopa for 6 days now, and he ate from my hand the first day I got him. He's about 4 months old. Here's what I did:
-grab a cricket, rip of one of it's hind legs (i know, poor guy), the let it sit in your hand as he now can't hope off. Offer it to your cham with your hand...
Try a Lowe's, Orchard Supply, Walmart, or even a 99cent store. You can find Umbrella Plants, Money Trees, Fiscus, and many more plants for your enclosure. Just repot the plant with organic soil and wash the entire plant (maybe a sponge w/light dish soap then rinse in shower) before putting it in...
From what I've read, it's ok to have a baby/juvenile in a large enclosure. however, I'm not so sure about a hatchling. That thing will have a though time finding food, and could have a fatal fall with a 4 feet tall enclosure. I'd maybe put a divider in the middle of cage in order to make it...
Like others have stated it is better to get a tube uvb bulb, this was the uv rays spread throughout the enclosure, giving your cham as much replica 'sunlight' exposure as possible. Also, place the basking lamp ontop of enclosure, pointing down. This will keep the top of the enclosure nice a...
I'd like to bump this thread. I've been searching and searching on this subject and here's what I've found:
Either posters say "I've heard it's toxic, don't use it" (but don't share any stories of it actually being harmful to a cham)
-and-
"It's fine. I have one in my cham's cage, there's a...
Awesome! Yea I was amazed that he could sleep like that:D Pactically straight up. Another thing I've noticed is that he leans to the side when kicking back on his basking spot. Although, I read around last night, and heard that's pretty common as well. To me, looked like he was going to fall...
