I thought they won't over-eat period though? I feed my guy, 4 months old also, about 8 crickets in the morning, and about 8 in the early evening. He seems to always want more no matter how much I give him... It's getting expensive :)
:confused:So many mixed suggestions.. And yes, please there are multiple levels for the cham to rest and/or climb to regulate its temps. Please see the pic i posted in the OP.
so someone says to but a vertical branch that goes all the way to the top?? Another says run a branch parallel to the...
Awesome.. Thanks for the advice. So, looking at the pic from my OP, should I add a branch that runs across the top parralel with the UVB light? I'm thinking that may be my next move to give him closer exposure to the UVB
Well, today, I altered my mistking settings. I basically took out one session, increased the duration of the remaining three, but spread the sessions out a little more in hopes that the bottom will completely dry in between sessions. My new settings are as follows:
Lights on: 7am
1st...
Ok so it is important to allow them to get as close as possible to the uvb bulb then? they can't burn from that bulb? I know it doesn't release heat like a basking bulb, but I want to make sure that it's vital for them to be able to get close to the UVB
Anybody? I've just read conflicting statements. Some say they need to be able to get within a foot of the UVB, and others have said they should be able to get about 6 inches away from the UVB.. If that's the case, I'll need to add a new highway for Koopa to give him closer access to the reptisun.
That's exactly what I was thinking and was hoping to hear! As I stated, I don't have puddles, but I do have water under the plant pot, and a little wetness that vears from that area. Everything else is completely dry between mistings, but pretty much around the plant put and the bottom of one of...
Interesting. I wonder if the phoenix worms will crawl on the screen. When i had the butter worms, they wouldn't do crap. My cham loves to hunt off the screen. That's pretty much where he gets the majority of his crickets.
Ok. So the consensus is that everything needs to be 100% dry prior to each misting session, correct? It seems almost impossible for the spot around my plant pot to dry completely (despite the majority of my draining holes are under it). I guess I'll maybe cut one of the sessions out, and spread...
I'm thinking perhaps I should have fewer misting sessions. Right now it's as follows:
7:15am- 4 mins
11:15am- 4 mins
3:15 pm- 4 mins
5:30pm -1 min (because lights go out at 7pm)
Should I maybe make them 5 hour intervals rather than 4, and maybe take one of the sessions out and increase...
Sorry I should've mentioned in my OP, but I do have a dygrometer, and my humidity averages around 50-60% . The humidity doesn't really get that high, my main concern is whether or not it needs to be 100% dry on the bottom of the enclosure prior to each misting session. Again, there's not huge...
I just don't see how people's enclosures dry out completely when a lot of people say they allow misting sessions to go up to 5 minute durations. I only had mine set to 3 minute durations, with 4 hour intervals, and it doesn't completely dry. I have drainage, and there aren't really puddles, but...
I just want to ensure that I have enough highways and levels for my little guy to get to the appropriate range of my reptisun 5.0. I have a 2x2x3 enclosure, with two live plants, vines, branches, and some fake leaves. My question is, how close does my cham need to be able to get to the UVB in...
Hi everyone,
So i installed a brand new mist king system this past weekend for my 4 month old male veiled. The dimensions of his enclosure is 2x2x3. My initial settings I set the timer to were 4 misting sessions at 3 minutes each, 4 hour intervals. I've noticed that it almost completely dries...
Yea, that's EXACTLY why i ordered larger ones in my situation.. Because the small crickets were drowning after misting.. What I do now, is I mist first, wipe the bottom of the enclosure with some paper towels, THEN throw in the crickets. Since i have a misting system, and it goes on while I'm at...
Makes sense. Well, from what I've read, phoenix worms seem to be more active than the butter worms that I tried, so hopefully they are a success. Hmmmm..if only I could get my guy into cup feeding occasionally.. I've only tried a few times, and he just stares at the insects in the cup...hasn't...
My advice would be to stick to the rule of thumb of no cricket should be length longer than the width between your cham's eyes. I made the mistake of buying medium/large crickets for my little guy (4 months) thinking the little crickets weren't doing justice.. He choked on a cricket and...
crap.. I hope they're not THAT small . I ordered them from smallpetfeeders, and I spoke to the manager on the phone. I described my cham's size, and we were discussing what size worms and roaches would be good for him.. Hopefully he sends me ideal size... Actually, now that I think about...
I have a small cricket keeper that I usually store about 75 medium sized crickets in. Would it be ok to store the 75 small dubias I just ordered online? I've never housed dubias, and all these talks about escapes is making me unsure. This is what the Keeper looks like
dimensions are about...
